Erik Burgh, a Junior at Montrose Area High School has for his Senior Project chosen to bring the Harlem Wizards to the Montrose area on April 29, 2013 to entertain the communities.
All proceeds will be donated to the Tony Bistocchi Scholarship Fund. Tony was a 2009 graduate from Montrose and one of Eriks brother best friends. He lost his life on May 28, 2012 in a motor vehicle accident.
In 2009 the Harlem Wizards came to the community as a fund raiser for the Montrose Basketball Booster club, which was fun for the whole community.
The Wizards have also agreed to visit two elementary schools in Montrose on the day of the game to do a small 40 minute show for all the kids. When they come to the big game that evening they will feel that they have been a part of the big event.
Erik is doing fundraising for the event as well. Families and businesses can buy donation packages that include free VIP seating tickets and get their names and company logos listed on the game shirts and posters that will be worn and displayed the night of the game. It is a great opportunity for the whole community to reach out and show their support. There will be a concession stand, souvenir booth, raffles of many signed professional sports teams balls and other items, and many basket raffles.
For tickets and information contact Erik at ErikBurgh@rocketmail.com and he can provide tickets as well as package details for anyone wanting to donate and get special vip seating.
Tickets can also be purchased at Shear Perfection Hair in Montrose, Hill Side Hair in Montrose and Dan Ricci State Farm in Montrose. Get your tickets early as the event is anticipated to sell out fast!
The Pennsylvania Association of Retired State Employees will hold their first meeting of the year 2013 on Tuesday, April 9 at the Towanda American Legion.
Natalie Slugg, Member Service Representative from the Professional Insurance Services, Inc. will be the guest speaker. She will speak regarding the changes in the Dental and Vision Insurance available to PARSE members, as well as new products available to retirees. She will be glad to answer any questions retirees may have.
The PARSE organization is only good to those who volunteer their time and effort. Chapter 15, consisting of Bradford, Sullivan and Susquehanna Counties, is looking for members to be involved as officers, or simply attending meetings and offering their suggestions and comments.
If you have questions about PARSE and/or want to make a reservation for the April 9, 2013 meeting, contact Bernice Landmesser at 570-265-8812 or John Benio at 570-278-2380.
