Mr. Smith Should Go To Washington
Mr.Tom Smith should go to Washington,D.C to replace Mr. Bob Casey. Tom Smith is the candidate for Sen.Casey's Pa. seat in Congress. Do you remember the 1939 movie "Mr.Smith goes to Washington" with Gary Cooper and Jean Arthur? It was a great movie about Mr.Smith and how he cleaned up the corruption and the "rubber stamping bills" that passed to help the incumbent politicians. Now we have a new opportunity to elect Mr.Tom Smith who is 100% pro-life. Sen. Casey has only a 40% voting record to defend unborn babies. Sen.Casey voted over 90% with Pres.Obama and his failed record that got Our Country into this mess. Vote for Romney-Ryan and Smith to restore decency and sound fiscal policies to the State of Pennsylvania and Our U.S.A.
Sincerely,

The second decade of the 21st century is fast becoming known as the terrible 10s. Climate change is causing floods and droughts, pollution is suffocating the oceans, radiation from Japan's triple meltdown encircles the Earth, and Greece threatens to tear the eurozone apart.
In the U.S., the Midwest swelters under record heat and a withering drought decimates the corn and soybean crops, unemployment is intractable, gas and food prices rise while the value of the dollar falls, and the once Almighty Dollar is dethroned from its pedestal of AAA credit rating to a AA by Standard and Poor (S&P).
What else could possibly go wrong? Plenty, says the professor of doom, Gerald Celenti: “The economy is on the threshold of calamity . . . another violent financial episode is looming.” Celenti's business is predicting the future. His highly successful publication, Trends Research Institute, is usually right.
Who is Gerald Celenti? The Wall Street Journal wrote, “Those who take their predictions seriously . . . consider the Trends Research Institute.” The New York Post wrote, “If Nostradamus were alive today, he'd have a hard time keeping up with Gerald Celenti.”
So what does this modern day Nostradamus foresee? “ We predict teetering economies will collapse, currency wars will ensue, trade barriers will be erected, economic unions will splinter, and the onset of the Greatest Depression will be recognized by everyone.”
Unsettling to say the least, even more so since Celenti doesn't stand alone.
Nouriel Roubini, professor of economics at New York University: “We are in the middle of this crisis and there is more trouble ahead of us.” Peter Morici, professor of economics at the University of Maryland: “The next financial tsunami is emerging.” Bob Chapman, publisher of the International Forecaster: “The green shoots of recovery have turned into poison ivy.”
Even Nobel Prize winning economist, Paul Krugman warns, “It's not hard to see Japan-style deflation emerging.” And Mood's Investment warns that S&P might downgrade Treasury bonds.
Many economists see a coming collapse that we can't do anything about. For decades America has been living on the cuff. Our “credit card,” i.e., Treasury bonds, is approaching $17 trillion, an amount that cannot possibly be repaid.
Defaults on international loans and dozens of domestic entitlement programs including Medicare, Medicaid, and Social Security, are inevitable unless the dollar is devalued to pay back debt obligations with a cheaper currency.
“There [is] a 50 percent devaluation of the dollar, and an end to the greenback as the global reserve currency,” warns former Secretary of Commerce Clyde Pretowitz.
A reserve currency is held by governments to conduct international business. If a government or institution wishes to purchase commodities such as oil, lumber, cotton, or wheat, dollars are the preferred medium of exchange.
If the dollar loses its status as the world's reserve currency, much of the $6 trillion held by foreign governments as reserve currency will no longer be needed. A glut of dollars would come onto the world currency market trashing its value.
Baseball great and fount of unintended humor, Yogi Berra, once said, “Prediction is very hard, especially about the future.” But it seems safe to say that in these precarious times the world and especially the United States are in for a hard-knock time or as Gerald Celenti calls it, “the Greatest Depression.”
Sincerely,

President Obama spent his formative years in academia, so he’s no doubt familiar with postmodernism, the literary theory that rejects objective reality and insists instead that everything is a matter of interpretation and relative “truth”. At any rate he’s running the first postmodern Presidential campaign, now organized almost exclusively around allegations about his opponent that bear no relation to the observable universe. (From the Wall Street Journal editorial page of August, 10, 2012).
The most current example of the above is the allegation that Mitt Romney is responsible for the death of the wife of an employee of the steel mill which was purchased by Bain Capital in a turn around effort which eventually failed. The facts of the matter are that she was never insured by the steel company and she died six years after the steel mill finally shut down. Unless you are paying attention, you might well believe the allegation since it comes from a Super Pac aligned with the president.
Veritas vos liberabit. The truth shall set you free. John 8:32. Since the ratification of the Constitution of the United States by the several colonies in 1788, there has never in history been such a determined assault on our Constitution from within. The latest being the Executive Order relative to certain children of illegal immigrants, in direct opposition to the vote in the Senate rejecting the “Dream Act”. This action, of course, is designed to persuade the Latino vote to go for Obama in November. This president is governing via Executive Order. To him, the Constitution is an aggravation, something to be circumvented. Executive Orders are being utilized as vehicles to undermine and eventually destroy our democratic process and to permanently entrench the Liberal, Socialist political wing. So much for “We, the people ….”.
Ignorance is not a satisfactory substitute for knowledge. Without knowledge, we can be manipulated and controlled without even being aware of it. Until, finally, we wake up and find that we are no longer a free people. Four more years ought to do it.
Sincerely,

This is an appeal letter regarding Susquehanna County Literacy Program and its ongoing needs. As some of you may know, the program took a big hit last year at this time. We were no longer funded by Federal and State dollars. We had to lay off all workers as of December, due to lack of funding. The program was planning on closing its doors by June 1st. However, by the great generosity of the Weinberg Foundation, we have a working budget until January 2014. The grant gives us operating expenses but does not provide enough to rehire any employees. The Board has taken over the daily functions and what a great Board they are. They have really stepped up. They have each taken on more responsibility and are using their particular strengths to keep the program running.
The issue is we need more help. We need people, who recognize the need for a strong, viable literacy program in our community, as well as new Board members to keep the organization growing and on mission. We currently have 20 students and 25 tutors. People call looking for services every day. The need has not gone away. What we are offering is not enough, however in order to do more, we need more people.
We need people, who will take a project and make it work. An example is our jail program. It needs to be providing more. We need someone who will help with grant research, recruitment and retention of volunteers, and developing a complete and functioning program. There is also a need for an after school tutoring program including life/job skills. Our elderly population would also benefit from a learning program or just a visiting readers program.
Literacy is not just about GED. Our mission is lifelong learning, which encompasses whatever the public deems important. You are that public. The possibilities are endless, but it will end, if no one is willing to stand up and help. When this program started almost 30 years ago, it encompassed a great group of people wanting to make a change for the better. Most of them have passed now and there is a need for a new group of caring and driven individuals to take over.
I am the current President of the Board. My term ends December 2012. Due to other commitments, I am forced to make some difficult personal decisions regarding what I can offer Susquehanna County Literacy Program. I am committed to continuing to help the organization, however I need help.
This letter is an appeal. There are many good, qualified, and able individuals in our community, who can offer a great deal to this organization and the community. I ask that you seriously consider becoming involved and helping us and our community grow into a bountiful orchard.
Please call (570) 465-2880 or email sclp@epix.net. If you see the lights on stop by, we are located near the junction of Route 11 and 706 in New Milford above the Magistrate’s Office.
Sincerely,
DeLores A. Davis “Dodi”
Board President
