Clyde Payne, 83, of Hallstead, PA entered into the presence of his Lord and Savior on October 16, 2011. He was predeceased by his loving and dearly missed wife of 54 years, Norma.
He is survived by his three children, Margaret “Peggie” and Richard Walworth, Randy L. and Nancy Payne, all of Hallstead, PA, and Andrew L. and Gloria Payne, Buckeye, AZ; three grandchildren, Lisa Marie Walworth, Jedediah Payne, and Alex Michael Payne; two brothers-in-law, Carl Silver and Jonathan E. Silver; and several nieces and nephews.
Clyde served with the United States Marine Corps, Company C, 1st Battalion, 7th Marine of the First Marine Division, during WWII. He was a P.O.W. in Okinawa, Japan.
Prior to his retirement, Clyde was employed as an automotive mechanic with Dietzsch Pontiac Cadillac, Binghamton, NY. He was an active member of the First Baptist Church, Hallstead for many years, eagerly serving as the Head Trustee, in charge of the bus ministry, and the softball coach. He is currently a member of the South New Milford Baptist Church.
On Saturday, Clyde saw Norma and on Sunday he reached for her hand and they are now reunited forever.
The family would like to express their sincere appreciation to the ER staff, MEM 3, and especially to the ICU, all of Binghamton General, for their tender, compassionate care.
A funeral service was held on Friday, October 22, 2011, at the Tuttle-Yeisley Funeral Home, Hallstead, PA. Interment was made in Rose Hill Cemetery.

CPL. CHAD M. SMITH
Cpl. Chad M. Smith, 23, of Harford, PA passed away unexpectedly, Tuesday, October 11, 2011 at Mary Immaculate Medical Center from injuries sustained in an accident at Naval Weapons Station Yorktown, Virginia. Born March 19, 1988 in Tunkhannock, PA, he was the son of Trenten M. and Heather A. [Evans] Smith.
Chad graduated from Mountain View High School Class of 2007. He was a student at Career Technology Center of Lackawanna County where he earned a certificate in carpentry and was presented the outstanding achievement award for his class.
He joined the Marine Corps on January 12, 2009 and was promoted to the rank of corporal in February, 2011. His awards include the National Defense Medal, Global War on Terrorism Service Medal, Sea Service Deployment Ribbon, Second Award Rifle Expert, and Second Award Pistol Expert.
Chad was a Designated Marksman assigned to 2nd Fleet Anti-Terrorism Security Team (2nd FAST) Company, Marine Security Force Regiment, II Marine Expeditionary Force. He recently completed the Advanced Infantry Squad Leader Course.
Chad loved spending time with his family and friends, hunting, fishing and weight lifting.
Survivors include his wife, Brianna [Esslinger] Smith of Kingsley, PA; parents, Heather and Trenten Smith of Harford, PA; brothers, Kyle and Craige Smith of Harford, PA; maternal grandparents, Vivyenne and Douglas Pascoe of Hop Bottom, PA, Giles and Mallia Evans of Tunkhannock, PA; paternal grandparents, Boyd and Diana Smith of Kingsley, PA; great grandfather, Alfons Choplosky of Nicholson, PA; aunts and uncles, Marty and Bridget Evans, Meghan and Jason Casselbury, Shannon Bott, Aaron Smith, Eric and Tinna Smith, and Ryan Smith; mother-in-law, Christine Esslinger; father-in-law, Robert Esslinger; and brother-in-law and sisters-in-law, Adele and Brandon Bennett, Delaney Esslinger and Colton Esslinger.
Memorial Services were held Saturday, October 22, 2011 at the Harford Fire Company, 142 Fair Hill Road, Harford, PA 18823.
