Commanding Officer Naval Support Activity Washington takes pleasure in commending Master-At-Arms Seaman Apprentice Joshua J. McKinney, United States Navy, for service set forth in the following citation.
For exceptional achievement in the performance of duties while serving as Patrolman, Naval Support Activity Washington on August 5, 2011. Seaman Apprentice McKinney was responsible for providing Entry Control Point, Surveillance Detection and Dignitary Support services during the inaugural visit of President Barack Obama to the Washington Navy Yard. With less than 48 hours notice, Seaman Apprentice McKinney volunteered his off duty time to provide the private security for the President, Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, Vice Chief of Naval Operations and more than 400 guests attending the President’s historic speech on his vision for Veterans. Seaman Apprentice McKinney’s exemplary professional performance, dedication, and unmatched commitment to duty reflected credit upon himself and were in keeping with the highest traditions of the United States Naval Service.
Joshua is the son of Tamara and John McKinney of Susquehanna. He is a 2009 graduate of Susquehanna Community High School.
