GEORGE J. BANDONIS

George J. Bandonis, 92, Ocala, FL, passed away on Friday, September 9, 2011.

A native of Nicholson, PA, he retired from the Bendix Manufacturing Company and moved to Zephyrhills, FL from Hop Bottom, PA in 1985. George was preceded in death by his first wife Berneda Blaisure Bandonis; second wife Elma M. Bandonis; daughter Marcella Hanyon; and grandson Bradley Bandonis.

Survivors include daughter Victoria Lewandowski and husband Gerald Lewandowski; son John Bandonis; 4 grandchildren Michael Hanyon, Leslie Morreales, Stacy Lundeen, Renee McAndrew; 4 great grandchildren; and niece Delores Alden.

Graveside services were held Monday, September 12, 2011 at Florida National Cemetery in Bushnell, FL. Arrangements under the care of Countryside Funeral Home, Anthony, FL.

DOMINIC BATTISTI

Dominic “Spin” Battisti, 93, a life-long resident of Susquehanna, PA, passed away Tuesday, September 13, 2011 at Barnes-Kasson Hospital in Susquehanna, PA.

He was the son of the late Luigi and Elena (Canale) Battisti. He was predeceased by his brothers, Sandino “Sandy” Battisti and Julius Battisti.

Dominic is survived by his brother, John Battisti, his wife Katherine and their two children, Jack and Ann; two nieces, Lou Ann and her husband Michael Kilmer of Wyalusing, PA, and Elaine DeCastro-Greenlief, and her husband Doug Greenlief of Murrels Inlet, SC; one nephew and his wife, David and Renee Battisti of Phoenixville, PA; numerous great nieces and nephews, and countless members of the community that were his friends.

Dominic attended Laurel Hill Academy and retired from Bendix Corporation, where he worked for over 30 years. Dominic was an avid sportsman, and an active and recognizable member of the Susquehanna community for decades. Dominic was a decorated World War II veteran who fought valiantly in the South Pacific. In addition, he was a dedicated member of the St. John’s parish, and was active in numerous other local organizations including the St. John’s Men’s Club, the American Legion Post #86, and the Moose Club #794. He was also a lifetime member of the Susquehanna Fire Department.

A mass of Christian burial was offered at St. John’s Church in Susquehanna on Friday, September 16. Burial was in the St. John’s Cemetery in Susquehanna, Pa.

Memorial contributions may be made in Dominic’s name to the St. John’s Men’s Club, Susquehanna, PA.
