MICHELE LANKFORD Michele “Mike” (Welch) Lankford, of Susquehanna, PA, went home to the Lord on Tuesday, July 26, 2011, in Wilson Hospital after suffering from complications due to a stroke. Michele was 57 years old. She was predeceased by her parents Robert and Mary Bayless Welch; mother-in-law Lois Potter Lankford; and sister Sheila Welch Hamby. Michele was born January 27, 1954 in Susquehanna, PA to Robert and Mary Bayless Welch, the youngest of 9 children. She is survived and loved by her remaining brothers and sisters and their spouses and several nieces and nephews. Loving and devoted wife Michele married her high school sweetheart Gary Lankford and is the mother of 4, Derek Lankford, Aaron Lankford, Chadd Lankford and Melissa Lankford; mother-in-law of 3, Angela Carr Lankford, Wendy Bell Lankford and Leslie Klimek Lankford; and grandmother of 6, Paige Lankford, Jenna Lankford, Corbin Lankford, McKenna Lankford, Kelbeigh Lankford and Irelyn Lankford. Michele was known throughout the community for her involvement with the United Methodist Church in Susquehanna, various activities she followed while her children were in school, and her work with the Susquehanna Fire Department Auxiliary. Michele was loved by many and always will be remembered for her personality, humor, and love. She was always willing to help anyone in any way that she could. A Funeral Service was held on Saturday, July 30, 2011, at the Hennessey’s Funeral Home, 747 Jackson Ave. Susquehanna, PA, with Rev. James Rouse officiating. Burial was held in the Uniondale Cemetery, Uniondale, PA. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to a memorial fund that has been set up at People’s Neighborhood Bank in Susquehanna, PA, in Michele Lankford’s name. DOUGLAS D. HINE Douglas D. Hine, 70, of Gelatt, PA went home to be with his Lord and Savior on July 28, 2011. He is survived by his loving wife of 49 years, Louise. He was the son of the late Basil and Maude Hine. Also surviving are four children, Wendy and Timothy Oakley, Gelatt, PA, David D. and Sarah Hine, Waymart, PA, Jackie and Richard S. Randall, New Milford, PA, and Karee and Charles C. Battle, Springbook Township, PA; nine grandchildren, Stacy, Adam, and Jeff Oakley, Alex and Natalie Hine, Courtney and Zachary Randall, Carson and Emilee Battle; two sisters, Dawn and Ray Bills and Sharon and Gary Wolfe; a brother, Erwin “J.J.” Hine; sisters-in-law and brother-in-law, Dorothy and Bill Tyler and Joyce Hine; and many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by five siblings, Ilene Williams, Rebecca Shay, Glen Hine, Clifton Hine, and Donald Hine. Doug retired from Maines/Penske Leasing as a refrigeration mechanic. He was a very hard worker. He was formerly employed with the Hallstead Iron Foundry then self employed as a dairy farmer. Doug loved being outside, hunting, fishing, both vegetables and flower gardens. He was always working on engines and helping out the neighbors. NASCAR and baseball were favorites sports of his, especially his team, the Yankees. Doug especially loved to spend time with his grandchildren. Prior to 1999 he was a member of the Jackson Baptist Church. A funeral service was held Monday, August 1, 2011, Doug's 71st birthday, at the Tuttle-Yeisley Funeral Home, Hallstead, PA, 18822. Interment was made in the Gelatt Cemetery. Should friends so desire, expressions of sympathy may take the form of a donation to AseraCare Hospice Inc. 749 Northern Blvd., Clarks Summit, PA 18411.
