HEADLINES: The Second Sunday August Vesper Service will be held on August 14 at historic St. Paul’s Episcopal Church, Church Street, Montrose, PA at 5:00 p.m. Mary Lee Fitzgerald will welcome the guests to the service; Anne Lathrop will be the reader of the lessons and Barbara and Ed Schmidt will be greeters. Guest organist for the service is Susan Lewis. Ms. Lewis’ early musical career began in Huntingdon, PA and continued with Bachelor and Master degrees in Music Education with a major in organ from Mansfield University. She taught choral music in the Montrose Area School District for 27 years and continues to perform and conduct in Sebring, Florida where she lives with her husband Rodger. In Florida, she has accompanied Robin (Hickey) Smirnov and Todd Robinson on solo concert programs at South Florida Community College. Her musical experiences now are conducting a local church choir, conducting the Heartland Community Chorus, playing in the Heartland Community Orchestra, accompanying solo performances and substituting as a church organist. Robin (Hickey) Smirnov, guest vocal soloist, is a native of Little Meadows and a graduate of Montrose Area High School. While at Montrose, she participated in the Concert Choir and was selected for county, district, regional, and state choral festivals. She graduated at Westminster Choir College in Princeton, NJ and later studied and graduated from the Royal Academy of Music in London. Robin’s solo oratorio work has included major works such as Bernstein’s Chichester Psalms, Vivaldi’s Gloria and Dvorak’s Stabat Mater. In addition to recitals in the United States, Italy, Wales and England, she has operatoric experience which includes roles in such operas as Cadide, Cosi Fan Tutte, and The Bartered Bride. Robin currently resides in Amersham, England with her husband Igor and two children, Violetta and Viktor. All are welcome to attend to attend this short, ecumenical service followed by a salad buffet in the Parish House.
