JUDITH A. HOUGH Jude Hough passed away in Jacksonville, FL on Thursday, June 23 after a courageous battle with cancer. Jude was born in Binghamton, NY on July 11, 1955 and was raised in Susquehanna, PA. She was the daughter of Frederick George Hough and Catherine Arnold Hough, both of whom pre-deceased her. She is survived by her sisters Dr. M. Catherine Hough and Virginia Hough, with whom she resided and who were her devoted and faithful caregivers; her brother F. Gerard Hough, sister-in-law Dr. Susan R. Thornton, and niece, Eleanor Thornton Hough; and extended family. She leaves behind countless friends - some she knew from childhood and some she met via the Internet since becoming ill. Jude was instrumental in the creation of an international Internet breast cancer support group that began with three members: Jude, Karen from the UK and the Kitty from NY. The group has grown to over 350 members around the globe. Often Jude could be found in the darkness of night when sleep eluded her talking with other “Pink Sisters” sharing her wisdom and zest for life on the Internet. This group referred to her as “Mama Judes” and depended upon her for support and knowledge of breast cancer. She gave of herself tirelessly spreading her love and wit to all in need. She was an inspiration to all whom had the privilege to know her and will be missed by everyone whose lives she touched. Her funeral plans included a celebration of her life beginning with a formal service held Saturday, July 9, 2011 at Saint John’s Cathedral, Jacksonville, FL., followed by a reception at the Cathedral. A PowerPoint presentation illustrating Jude’s passion for life and devotion to friends was highlighted.
