WINIFRED A. (WILLIAMS) SODEN Winifred A. Soden, 90, of Gelatt, passed away peacefully in Plano Specialty Hospital, Plano, Texas on June 3, 2011 after a short illness and with family at her side. Born March 30, 1921 in Gelatt, daughter of the late Katherine Lowe and Harley Williams. She was predeceased by her loving husband of 67 years, James M. Soden in 2007; and by her siblings, Anna (Truex), Walter, Frederic, Wray, Richard, Frances (Frantz), and Wayne. She was also predeceased by a daughter, Bonnie; grandsons Jason Lombardi and Keith Bedford; son-in-laws Lee Wilson, David Allison and Alexander Lombardi. She is survived by a sister, Sara Tyler, Oneonta, NY; a sister-in-law, Hilda Williams, Kingsley, PA; and many nieces and nephews. Also surviving are her children, Carol (Dale) Hamilton, Wylie, TX, Ronald Soden, Olyphant, PA, Douglas (Nancy) Soden, Rome, PA, Diane (Daniel) Gentile, Latham, NY, Penny Lombardi, Denton, TX, and Karen Allison, Scranton, PA; and 14 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren. Winifred was the 1959 Pennsylvania State Poultry Cooking Queen; worked for Ship ‘n Shore Garment Factory, and later was employed for many years in the cafeteria as a baker for Mountain View High School. She was a member of the South Gibson United Methodist Church and the United Methodist Women, a 50 year member of the Order of the Eastern Star, Thompson, PA; a 25 year 4-H leader; a long time member of the Susquehanna County Senior Extension and Pennsylvania Farm Association. She was a very special wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother who will long be remembered for her family dinners, cinnamon rolls, pies and the many quilts she lovingly sewed for her family. Funeral services will be held on Thursday, June 9 at 11 a.m. at Tuttle-Yeisley Funeral Home, Hallstead, PA. The family will receive friends Wednesday, June 8 from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. An Eastern Star Service will be held at 8:00. Box, 70, of Starrucca Creek Road, Susquehanna, PA, passed away Friday June 3, 2011 at the Community Medical Center in Scranton, PA after an illness. She was predeceased by her parents Roy & Norma (Seamon) Hubert. Yvonne is survived by her loving husband of 51 years Gerald E. Box; son and daughter-in-law Joe and Rhonda Seamon; daughter and son-in-law Lisa and Rex Kelsey; sister Barbara Hubert; grandson Joshua Kelsey; and several nieces and nephews. She was a member of the St. John’s Church of Susquehanna. Yvonne was a devoted military wife and loving mother and will be deeply missed by her family and friends. A memorial mass will be held on Saturday, June 11 at 11 a.m. at the St. John’s Church in Susquehanna with Rev. David Cramer officiating. Burial will be in the St. John’s Cemetery in Susquehanna. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to the Community Medical Center Hospice Unit 1800 Mulberry Street Scranton, PA 18510. JEANETTE S. PRICE Jeanette S. Price, 87, of Kingsley, PA, passed away, Wednesday, June 1, 2011, at her home. Born June 10, 1923, in Nicholson, PA , she was the daughter of the late Chalmer H. and Sadie I. [Hayden] Cooley. Her husband Evan A. Price predeceased her in on December 11, 2010. She was a member of First Presbyterian Church of Montrose, Republican Women of Susquehanna County, the C-Club of Susquehanna County, Prosperity Chapter O.E.S. Lodge #84 Hop Bottom, PA, St. David’s Society, Kingsley Civic Club, a member of the former Montrose Music Club. Music, especially singing in the church choirs, remained an important part of Jeanette’s life. After marriage, she was employed at the Pentagon in Washington, D.C. She enjoyed many years of travel throughout the United Stated and Japan during her husband’s years in the Air Force. Upon Evan’s retirement, Jeanette’s family farm became their homestead. Her hobbies included sewing, baking and embroidery; she took great pride in and had great love for family and home. Survivors include daughters and sons-in-law, Linda Price Romeika [Bill] of West Chester, PA, Lana Price Fluck [Jim] of Brooklyn, PA, Lisa Price Matecki [Paul J.] of West Chester, PA; grandchildren, Heather [Josh], Andrew, Brent, Alison, Caitlin, Seth; brother and sister-in-law, Harry [Mary] Cooley, of Binghamton, NY; sister, Alma Price, of West Clifford, PA; sisters-in-law, Margaret Cooley of Vestal, and Frances [Harold] Ely of Heart Lake, PA; and many nieces and nephews. Services were held Saturday, June 4 at First Presbyterian Church of Montrose, Montrose, PA. Brink, 43, of Hallstead, PA passed away on June 2, 2011. He is survived by his beloved wife of almost 20 years, Donna. Also surviving are his adoring daughters, Kelsey, Kate, and Laura; his mother, Jeanette and Rit Chamberlin, Great Bend, PA; his father, James A. and Joan Brink, Great Bend, PA; two sisters, Shari and Bob Lewis and Marcie Dorunda, all of Hallstead, PA; mother-in-law and father-in-law, Don and Mary Burns, New Milford, PA; three nephews; and close friends. He was predeceased by a brother-in-law, David Burns. Jim was formerly employed with Chesapeake, Conklin, NY. For the past seven years he has been self employed, operating B. & B. Excavating and Construction, Inc. He was a member of the United Methodist Community Church, Great Bend, PA Jim was an avid hunter and archer. He was a talented carpenter and could build or fix anything. He was a dedicated family man and the greatest father any daughter could have. He married his childhood sweetheart and always made sure he took special care of “his ladies.” He was amazing. He will be dearly missed by his family, friends, and companion dog, Ranger. He has left a significant void. A funeral service was held Monday June 6, 2011 at the Tuttle-Yeisley Funeral Home, Hallstead, PA. Interment was made in Mountain Valley Cemetery.
