JOAN ESTELLA SMITH Joan Estella Smith, 76, of Thompson, PA passed away peacefully on March 24, 2011 at her home. She was the daughter of the late Arthur G. and Mary Anthony Smith. Joanie is survived by two nieces and two nephews, Beverly and Richard Hamlin, Canastota, NY, Karen and Lothar Lehmann, Emporia, VA, Ronald and Karen Minor, Morrisville, NY and Rodney and Mary Minor, Chittenango, NY; close friends, Ida Lewis and Shirley Swackhammer; a friend at Step By Step, Senga Thurston; and her companion dog, Fifi. Joan attended the Thompson Baptist Church and the First United Methodist Church of Thompson. She was a faithful member of the Rebekah Lodge, Thompson, PA. A memorial service will be held at 11:30 a.m., on May 14, 2011 at the Thompson Baptist Church, with Pastor John Sandau. Inurnment will be made in the East Ararat Cemetery. ANDREW CIZIKE Andrew Cizike, 88 of Endicott NY, passed from this earthly home to live in the house of his Heavenly Father and Lord on Monday, April 11, 2011 surrounded by his loving family while a patient at Lourdes Hospital. Andrew was predeceased by his mother, Anna, and father, John; brothers, John, Michael and George; sisters, Anna Strenecky, Eleanor Schindler, Mary Martine and Delores Cizike. Survivors include his loving wife, Rebecca; daughter, Cynthia (Joe) Kulikauskas of Colorado; son, Andrew Cizike of Pennsylvania; two loving grandsons, Philip Kulikauskas of Japan and Justin Kulikauskas of Colorado; sisters, Lillian Plonski, Helen Rorer and Margaret Perry; and many nieces, nephews and special friends and caregivers, Joanne and Dick Kocak and Jim and Robin Leary. Andy wanted to thank Dr. Richard Ryder, the staff at Binghamton Family Care, the staff and friends at the Dialysis Center and everyone who has helped him through these past years. "Andy the Barber" was in business for 63 years. Funeral services were held on Thursday, April 14, 2011 at St. Paul's Episcopal Church, 200 Jefferson Ave. Endicott with Father John Martinichio officiating. Burial followed in Riverhurst Cemetery, Endwell. In lieu of flowers, doations may be made to St. Paul's Episcopal Church. MARIE BULGER YOUNG Marie Bulger Young, 86, Hilltop Manor, Johnson City, NY, and formerly of New Milford, PA, died peacefully on Thursday morning, April 21, 2011 at Wilson Memorial Hospital, Johnson City, NY. Born Nov. 16, 1924 in Lock Haven, PA, she was the daughter of the late John L. and Elizabeth Rohe Bulger. She is predeceased by her husband of 58 years, Clair W. Young; and a sister, Eleanor L. Lucas. Marie is survived by a son and daughter-in-law, John W. and Marina M. Young of Milan, PA; a granddaughter, Mariel E. Young of Louisville, KY; a grandson, Paul W. Young of Milan, PA; a sister, Rita and Ronald Shoemaker of Williamsport, PA; several sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law; nieces and nephews. Marie was a graduate of Immaculate Conception High School in Lock Haven and attended Lock Haven State College, where she also worked as a secretary for the Dean of Instruction. She was a member of St. John’s Catholic Church in New Milford and its Altar & Rosary Society. She was a talented woodworker, needleworker and gardener. Funeral services were held at the Tuttle-Yeisley Funeral Home Monday, April 25, 2011 and at St. Lawrence Catholic Church where a Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated by Father Alfhonse Perikala. Interment was made in St. Mary’s Cemetery, Lock Haven, PA. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be sent to the Crohn’s and Colitis Foundation of America, 386 Park Ave. South, 17th Floor, New York, NY 10016. EDMOND (PRUNER) GROOVER, Edmond A. Groover. 53, of Susquehanna, PA, passed away Wednesday, April 20, 2011, after a short illness. He was predeceased by his parents Edmond and Lois Groover; sister Doris Shanley and brothers Richard, Larry and Louis Groover. Edmond is survived by his wife and soul mate for the last 30 years Margaret (Nalbone) Groover; children Tiffany and Lamontia, Michael and Elena, Veronica, and Stacy and Jason; and his pride and joy grandchildren Austin, Justice, Grace, Diamond, Mia, Carter, Trinity, Blake, Aubrey and Ariel; also his sisters Janet, Jean, Alice, Gloria, Sandy and Nancy; brothers Tom and Chuck; several brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, many nieces, nephews and several close friends. Pruner loved riding his motorcycles, going for long rides with Maggie on the quad, and watching wrestling with his son and grandson Austin. He had a really good green thumb and would do anything for anyone. He was a Jack of all trades and will be missed and thought of with love forever. The funeral service was held on Monday, April 25, 2011, at the Hennessey’s Funeral Home, 747 Jackson Ave., Susquehanna, PA. Burial was in the Evergreen Cemetery, in Susquehanna, PA, on Tuesday, April 26, 2011.
