Celebration Of The Feast Of St. Mark St. Mark’s Episcopal Church of New Milford has announced its observance of The Feast of St. Mark on Sunday, May 1 at its regular 11:00 a.m. Eucharist. The Feast of St. Mark is the parish’s patronal or feast day. The Rev’d Randy Webster, priest at St. Mark’s, will officiate and preach at the service. St. Mark’s Episcopal Church is located at 115 Main Street in New Milford.
Church To Honor Susky Fire Dept. Christ Episcopal Church in Susquehanna will host a Public Service of Thanksgiving for the work of the many volunteers of the Susquehanna Fire Department to be held on Saturday, May 7 at 4 p.m. at the church, located at 1107 West Main Street in Susquehanna. A reception will follow in the church’s Undercroft. The public is invited to attend this service for the people of the Susquehanna area. The Susquehanna Fire Department serves Harmony Township, Lanesboro Borough, Oakland Borough, and Susquehanna Depot Borough. The Susquehanna Fire Department was founded on August 31, 1978 as the result of the merger of Susquehanna’s two volunteer fire companies, the Erie Hose Co. #1, chartered on April 14, 1888, and the Susquehanna Chemical Engine Co. #1 chartered on May 8, 1911.
Special Eucharist At Christ Church Christ Episcopal Church in Susquehanna will celebrate the eighty-eighth anniversary of the consecration of it’s building at a special festive Eucharist on Sunday, May 1 at its regular 9:00 a.m. Eucharist. The Rev’d Randy Lee Webster, priest at Christ Church, will officiate and preach. The public is invited to attend. Christ Church was consecrated on Sunday, April 29, 1923 by The Rt. Rev’d Ethelbert Talbot, Bishop of Bethlehem. Christ Church was founded in 1874, with the first place of worship being a small wood frame building in Oakland. In 1890 a lot was given in Susquehanna, and the current building on West Main Street was begun in 1898. The building is made of brick with a louvered bell tower. The stained glass windows are a lovely example of late nineteenth century art glass. The church is also home to one of the handful of pipe organs in Susquehanna County. Christ Church is located at 1107 West Main Street in Susquehanna.
St. Paul’s Announces Annual Meeting St. Paul’s Episcopal Church in Montrose has announced that the annual meeting of the parish will be held on Sunday, May 1. The polls will be opened for voting at 9:00 a.m. The business meeting will be held following the regular 9:00 a.m. Eucharist. All parishioners in good standing - those who are regular in attendance and who are contributors of record for the previous year - may vote.
The May Vesper Service will be held on Sunday, May 9, at historic St. Paul’s Episcopal Church, corner of Church and Chestnut Streets, Montrose, at 5:00 p.m. Vespers is a traditional, ecumenical evening service which includes prayers, time for silent meditation, readings, reflections and music. Welcomer for the service will be Mary Lee Fitzgerald. Greeters will be Richard and Susan Stone and the reader will be Carolyn Warner. Special music will be provided by a Mother’s Day Choir under the coordination of Louise Smith. Jennie Grisafi will accompany the choir with a flute obligato. The organist will be Sarah S. Bertsch. A simple meal will be served in the Parish House following the service. All are welcome.
