Pickett Announces May Office Hours TOWANDA - Each Wednesday in May, staff from Rep. Tina Pickett’s (R-Bradford/Sullivan/Susquehanna) office are available to help residents with any state-related government issue by visiting satellite office locations in Lawton, Susquehanna County, and Laporte, Sullivan County. “These satellite office hours allow residents in both Sullivan and Susquehanna counties to access the valuable state-government services that my staff can provide,” Pickett said. “If residents have inquiries about legislation we’ve passed or are considering in the House, we can help answer their questions. My staff can also help with individual problems with various state agencies.” Staff from Pickett’s office will be available at the Susquehanna County satellite office from 10 a.m. until 2 p.m. on the second and fourth Wednesdays of the month, May 11 and May 25. That office is located on State Route 706 at Flynn’s Consignment Shop in Lawton. The site was formerly Cavallaro’s grocery store. In Sullivan County, staff will be on hand to help constituents from 1:30 p.m. to 3:30 p.m. on the first and third Wednesdays of the month, May 4 and May 18. The satellite office is held in the commissioner’s office in the courthouse in Laporte. Pickett operates her main full-time offices at 321 Main St., Towanda, phone (570) 265-3124 and 106 West Packer Ave., Sayre, phone (570) 888-9011. Conservation District Encourages Stewardship The Susquehanna County Conservation District wants to remind you that each of us has a responsibility to be a good steward of natural resources during the annual Stewardship Week celebration. The National Association of Conservation Districts (NACD) is celebrating the 56th year of Stewardship week April 24 - May 1. The 2011 Stewardship Week is themed “Forests for People - More Than You Can Imagine.” Trees provide us with shade, wood products and fuel, as well as help clean the air we breathe. MaryAnn Warren, who acts as the Commissioner Director for the County and also as the President of the Pennsylvania Association of Conservations Districts stressed, “the district was formed to assist people in the county with the protection and preservation of our natural resources. They work with residents to help them plan and apply effective conservation practices to their land.” “We hold an annual seedling sale to help promote good stewardship of our forests, streams and wildlife habitat,” added George Gardner, Chairman of the Board. Susquehanna County Conservation District is a member of the National Association of Conservation Districts which oversees the Stewardship Week program. Stewardship Week is one of the largest national annual programs to promote conservation. NACD represents the nation’s 3,000 conservation districts, which were established to encourage resource conservation across the country. For information about Stewardship Week and conservation, contact the Conservation District at 570-278-4600.
