KARON SWIERS

Karon Swiers, 61, of Pleasant Ave., Thompson, PA, passed Sunday December 13, 2009 at home after an illness.

She was predeceased by her father Roger Marion.

Karon is survived by her loving husband of 23 years Albert Swiers; mother Betty Marion of Thompson; son and daughter-in-law David & Kristin Maxted of Macangie, PA; a daughter Susan Maxted of UnionDale, PA; three brothers Peter Marion of Lake Hopatcong, NJ, William Marion of Thompson, James Marion of Thompson; two grandsons Ryan and Reese; several nieces, nephews and cousins.

She was a loving wife, mother and grandmother. Her grandsons were the light of her life. Karon enjoyed gardening and decorating for the holidays.

The family will have a private funeral service at their convenience.

FRED ROSS

Fred Ross, 48 of Needles, CA died following a short illness in Las Vegas, NV on December 11, 2009. He was a graduate of SCHS class of 1980.

He was predeceased by his parents Fredrick L. Ross and Esther L. (Carpenter) Ross of Ararat, PA.

He is survived by his friend Theresa Rios of Needles, CA; sisters Karen Sue (Matthew) Fitzgibbons of Fayetteville, NY, Polly (John) Bowers of Liverpool, NY and Becky (Lacey) Ross of Mattydale, NY; brothers Gayle (Emily) Ross of Allentown, PA and Dale (Patty) Ross of Thompson, PA; as well as nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles and cousins.

A private burial service will take place at a later date in Burnwood, PA.

BERNICE M. BRINK

Bernice M. Brink, 88, of Great Bend, PA passed away December 17, 2009 in Binghamton, NY. She was predeceased by her first husband John E. Foley in 1966 and her second husband, Donald E. Brink in 2001.

Bernice is survived by one daughter, Kathleen T. Osterhout, Hallstead, PA; step-children, Sandra Payne, Richard Brink, and Thomas and Jean Brink; three grandchildren, Randy Osterhout, Richard and Denise Osterhout, and Raymond Osterhout; six step-grandchildren; six great grandchildren, Randi-Katlyn, Koloni, Jacob, Lynnsey, Torin, and Tommy; and many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by a brother Clarence Tiel and a sister Frances Lake.

Bernice was a member of the United Methodist Community Church, the American Legion Post #357 Auxiliary, and the V.F.W. Post #6223 Auxiliary. She enjoyed reading, was a talented square dancer, and was enthusiastic about camping.

A funeral service was held at 1:00 p.m., Monday December 21, 2009 at the Tuttle-Yeisley Funeral Home. Spring interment will be made in the Woodlawn Cemetery, Great Bend, PA.

ROLAND FRANK WHEELER

Roland Frank Wheeler, 89, of North Main St., Lanesboro, PA, passed away at his home on Friday, December 18, 2009.

He was predeceased by his first wife Leona Wheeler on July 27, 1996 and a great granddaughter Jordyn Thomson.

Roland is survived by his wife of 11 years Alice Angier; his daughters, Patricia Peltier, McLeonsville, NC, Margaret and Jerome Thomson, Hallstead, PA, Lynne and Chris Charlier, Lindley, NY; stepsons, Richard and Janice Angier, Manilus, NY, Rodney Angier, St. Paul, MN; step-daughter, Marilyn and Robert Brooks, Maynard, MA; a brother Leon Wheeler, Conklin, NY and a sister Margaret Neylan, Conklin, NY; eight grandchildren, Michelle Peltier, Jeni Weske, Bryant Peltier, Teresa Kennedy, Lanette Thomson, Jerome Thomson, Jr., Coleby Charlier, Lee Charlier; four step-grandchildren, seven great grandchildren, several nieces and nephews.

Roland was a very kind, patient and highly respected man who loved his family and always put them first. He had a good sense of humor. He loved to “tinker” in his garage and with his cars and other motors. He also had a great love for his 1955 BMW motorcycle which he rode for 50 years and his Aeronca Chief Plane which he flew in the 50’s.

He was a veteran of the US Army Air Corp and served during WWII. He attended the First United Methodist Church, Susquehanna, PA. Roland was a well know auto mechanic who worked for various garages in the area.

A funeral service will be held on Tuesday, December 22, 2009, at 1 p.m. at the Hennessey’s Funeral Home, 747 Jackson Ave, Susquehanna, with the Rev. James Rouse officiating.

Burial will be in the Gelatt Cemetery, Gelatt, PA.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Tuesday from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m.
