Annual Play At Elkdale Baptist The Elkdale Baptist Church is going to present their annual play on December 31 at 7:00 p.m. It is called “The Inn In Bethlehem.” The story takes place back in the day when Caesar Augustus ruled and taxes were on the rise, especially for the tributary nations of the empire. The Jews were one of these states. Taxes, taxes, and more taxes. In this historically based fictional drama, the inn keeper at Bethlehem was being faced with tribute taxes that were beyond his means. Faced with the possibility of losing his inn, a supernatural chain of events bring a turn around in his business and life. Most accounts villianize the inn keeper at Bethlehem who had no room for Jesus. Come and find out how it might be that he really wasn’t as bad as we have imagined him all these years. Maybe he was just an ordinary guy struggling to make a living and pay his taxes in a bad economy. Maybe he really didn’t have any room and the lowly manger was the best he could offer. With the struggle so many are having in their lives, many people have lost their jobs, homes and businesses. This story has a timely message that will be sure to make you cry and laugh at the same time. The church is located off Rt. 106 in West Clifford, PA. All original music was written and orchestrated by Pastor Frank Bissol with drama and choral music. There will be special brass prelude music from the Revival Brass Band from North Pocono Bible Baptist Church. Refreshments will follow and admission is free. For more information and directions, call 570-222-4997 or visit ElkdaleBaptist.com. Pictured above, the Roman Soldier Claudius played by Randy LaCroix, The Inn Keeper’s wife played by Melody Fusco, the Inn Keeper played by Joe Bissol and Paul the Apostle played by Joey Aikens. Alfhonse Perikala, Assistant Pastor, warmly welcome home all the parishioners of St. John the Evangelist, Susquehanna, St. Lawrence, Great Bend, and St. Martin of Tours, Jackson for the Christmas season. Fr. Cramer’s prayer for this Christmas season is that all “choose to live our Catholic faith to the fullest and do all we can to bring the message of Christ’s salvation to our community and our world.” Christmas Eve services, December 24, will be at 4:00 p.m. and 8:00 p.m. at St. John, 5:00 p.m. and 10:00 p.m. at St. Lawrence, and 6:00 p.m. at St. Martin of Tours.
