Memorial Day

I publicly want to thank the multitude of people that attended the Veterans Memorial wreath laying ceremony service at Welcome Center. This ceremony was an out pouring of respect to these men from our county that served proudly and paid the ultimate sacrifice for this great country.

I want to thank The Veterans Family Support Group that paid for the wreath, Commissioner Warren who spoke, the members of the 109th Heavy Infantry Division and their Honor Guard, Pastor Gary Haskell, Sr. of the Jackson Baptist Church and Mr. Burkett from Blue Ridge High School that supplied the trumpet player who played taps.

It was quite a difference from last year when 2 of us were there to place the wreath.

Calling All Artists

You’re invited to participate in the 3rd annual Susquehanna County Harvest Of The Art’s festival on September 19 and 20.

The exposition will include a Fine Arts and Craft Exhibit/Sale at the Historic Starrucca House on September 19 and 20. Saturday’s festivities will include a juried, outdoor Fine Arts and Crafts Show and Sale, a county-wide youth art show, blue grass music, and an international food market hosted by the SCCTC. There will demonstrations, wine tasting and a kid’s corner that will include story telling, puppet shows, a magic show, face painting, craft tables, tie-dye t-shirts and more. The weekend will culminate at an elegant cocktail reception and Fine Arts and Crafts Reception Sunday evening at the Starrucca House.
