PARSE Update
By Cynthia Sims, Secy.

The Pennsylvania Association of Retired State Employees (PARSE) held their final meeting for year 2008 on December 9 at the Towanda Gun Club. The membership was delightfully entertained with Christmas music by The Joyful Sound, Cheryl Rowlands, Richard and Linda Blanchard.

Thomas O’Neill, Northeast Region Vice President, spoke to the group about current retirees’ issues, stating that due to the poor economy, it is not expected that there will be a Cost of Living Adjustment (COLA) in 2009. He said there is a possibility of a monthly magazine being published for all retirees, which would give information about the PARSE organization.

President Jesse Bacon announced that there is a possibility of this chapter having only three meetings per year as other state chapters do. As the next meeting is in April, no action was taken at this time. However, as input is needed from all members, retirees should contact their respective vice presidents with their opinions.

The date and place of the April meeting will be announced later. For more information about the PARSE organization, contact Susquehanna County Vice President John Benio at 278-2380.
