Community Foundation Scholarship Recipients

The Community Foundation of Susquehanna and Wyoming Counties announced that the following 2007 High School graduates will be receiving awards from scholarships managed by The Foundation. This year $50,000.00 is being distributed to local graduates and alumni. Because of The Foundation’s participation in a state-funded program, an additional $34,000.00 may be available in matching grants to be shared among some of these recipients who fulfill certain state-mandated requirements. In addition to the individuals listed below, past recipients who are currently in college and are maintaining a 3.0 GPA are also receiving annual awards from the Dohrer Scholarship for Tunkhannock Area graduates, and from the Donley Scholarship for Blue Ridge graduates, for the duration of their four-year college enrollment. In addition to this, with permission from the Donley family’s estate attorney, Michael Giangrieco, and in collaboration with Post Commander, Rick Rood, funding from the Donley scholarship is being distributed to the Hallstead-Great Bend American Legion to assist with the Legion’s own scholarships this year, due to their unfortunate losses in the June, 2006 flood. For more information about these scholarships please visit The Foundation’s website atwww.community-foundation.org.
