The 109th Battalion peacekeeping mission in Bosnia is bringing out the best in some local soldiers. Recently, two infantrymen from Charlie Company, of New Milford were named soldier of the month and NCO of the month by Task Force Eagle. The soldiers were selected from over 1000 eligible members of Task Force Eagle, serving as part of SFOR 12 in Bosnia.

PFC Matt Robinson was recognized as soldier of the month for November. While in Bosnia, PFC Robinson has demonstrated a strong commitment to the mission. He recently scored a perfect 300 score on the army physical fitness test and placed third at a weightlifting competition. PFC Robinson has maintained a positive attitude and realizes the importance of serving as a peace keeper in the Balkans.

SGT. Timothy Bomboy was named NCO of the month for November. SGT. Bomboy has demonstrated outstanding leadership ability as a team leader in 1st platoon, Charlie Company. SGT. Bomboy’s professionalism and attention to detail has helped to keep the peace in his platoon’s opstina. Very often, leadership duties of a higher level are placed on SGT. Bomboy, and accomplished with success.

Charlie Company’s mission is scheduled to end this spring. All of the guardsmen in Bosnia are thinking about coming home, especially with the holiday season upon us. It’s good to know that, until that day comes, their minds and hearts are dedicated to doing a good job. SPC Robinson and SGT. Bomboy are a testament to that.
