APRIL 21

SCFB SPRING MEETING: The Susquehanna County Farm Bureau annual Spring Meeting will be held at 6:30pm, at the Montrose Bible Conference, Lake Avenue Dining Hall. RUMMAGE AND BAKE SALE: At the Franklin Hill Presbyterian Church on Friday, April 27 from 9AM til 2PM and Saturday, April 28 from 9AM til 1PM. Lunch will be served both days (homemade soups and sandwiches). Located half way on Franklin Hill Road between Lawsville Center on Route 29 and Summersville on Route 11.

FREE LUNCHEON: The Stone Soup Kitchen at Christ Episcopal Church, at the corner of Delaware and Dundaff Streets, Forest City, is thrilled to continue our program of monthly Free Community Luncheons. As always, we welcome all who come through our doors to enjoy a hearty meal that we happily serve with warm and friendly fellowship. Servings begin at 12pm - 1:30pm. ART SHOW: Local Steam Era Legacy art by A. Alexander Stella, of Susquehanna, was accepted into the Broome Community College Art Show. Show will be held in the BCC library from 2pm-4pm on Saturday. For more information contact Mr. Stella at 570-853-3050.

CLEAN-UP: Spring clean-up day at the Lakeview Cemetery in Jackson Township, will be held on Saturday at 9:00 AM.

MAY 15

DINNER: The Clifford United Methodist Church on Main Street is serving a chicken-n-biscuit or ham dinner on Tuesday, from 4:00 to 6:00 pm. Take out or dine with us. Donations include dinner, drink & dessert.

MAY 18-19

RUMMAGE/BAKE SALE: First United Methodist Church at 69 Pratt Street, New Milford, is holding a Rummage/Clothing/Bake Sale and Silent Basket Auction. Featuring antiques, tools, collectibles, and furniture, there are treasures for all. Event will be Friday, from 9am - 5pm and Saturday, from 9am - 3pm, located in the FUMC Social Hall. Come rain or shine.

MAY 19

FUND RAISER: The Summer Lunch Box Group of Hop Bottom, will hold a fund-raiser at the Elk Mountain VFW, Route 106 at Lenox Corners on Saturday, from noon to 5pm. We are sponsoring a chicken barbecue along with numerous raffles, Chinese auctions, and bake sale. Tickets are available from Paula at 570-289-4102, any SLB member or at the VFW. Pre-sales strongly encouraged.

JUNE 2

DINNER TO HONOR: The Moose Lodge 794, Main Street, Susquehanna, is hosting a chicken dinner to honor former Head Coach Richard Bagnall for being elected to the PA Football Coaches Hall of Fame. Saturday at 7pm, the dinner will be held upstairs at The Moose. An open mic will be available for anyone who wants to say something. Former players, cheerleaders, students or friends are encouraged to attend. Number of seats is limited, so please call 570-853-3929 to reserve a seat.

JULY 12

JULY 12-13-14: Union Dale Volunteer Fire Company is looking for band bids and contract offers for the annual July, 2018 picnic. Interested bands should contact Andrew Belcher at 570-241-7757 before February 12 deadline.

JULY 22

COMMUNITY CHORUS: The Susquehanna Community Chorus will be performing this summer as part of Hometown Days.  Our first practice will be on Monday, April 9 at 7:30 p.m. at St. John's Hall in Susquehanna.  Our concert will be on Sunday, July 22 at 3:00 p.m. at the Susquehanna Community High School Auditorium.  This chorus is open to anyone who would like to sing.  No prerequisites or auditions are required.  At the first practice we will hand out music and a rehearsal schedule.  Anyone wishing to participate, please contact Jeffrey Keyes, Brenda Tiffany, or come to the practice on April 9.

Community Dinner This Saturday

Are you tired of gray skies and intermittent snow showers? Are you ready for some daffodil and tulip blossoms brightening our landscapes? While we wait for such a glorious sight, please come and join your friends and neighbors for a "Community Dinner" on Saturday, April 21st, at the Susquehanna United Methodist Church, Main Street in Susquehanna. The dinner starts at noon and continues until all are served. Ask a friend, tell your neighbors, invite your relatives, but, by all means—bring your appetite! The menu is scheduled to be baked ham, side dishes, and a variety of desserts (Subject to change) and you know it will be delicious and plentiful. There is no charge.

 Y-O-U are our guest! If you have joined us for our previous Community Dinners, you know that friendship, kindness, hope, strength, and good conversation are all served up with a smile and a hearty welcome. Drum Making and Dream Catching

The opportunity to learn how to make a Native American Drum or a Dream Catcher is being offered in the form of two workshops at The Belize Fund's American Indian Resource Center in Susquehanna on Saturday, April 28.

The Drum Making Workshop takes place from 9am to 12noon, while the Dream Catcher Workshop happens between 2pm - 4pm. Both workshops will allow the participants to learn the skills of these Native American traditions and then craft one to bring home.

Drum Making participants will be assembling their Drum with a red maple ring and elk hide. Attendees will be able to choose what size drum they would like to make. Marcey Tree In The Wind Stefancik - Langhorn, the instructor for both workshops, will also give a short lesson on the history of the drum.

Those attending the Dream Catcher session will be given step-by-step instructions through the process of creating their own dream catcher decorated with beads and feathers.

The workshops will be held on the grounds of The Belize Fund's American Indian Cultural Center, 163 Melrose Road, about 15 minutes off I-81, Exit 230. Pre-registration is not required, but helpful.

Hearsay A Cappella In Forest City

The Forest City Area Historical Society is proud to announce the return engagement of the premier all-female a cappella group "Hearsay A Cappella" of Cornell University on Sunday, April 29th, 1:00 pm at the Historical Society Museum, 629 Main Street, Forest City.


The a cappella group, Hearsay A Cappella

Hearsay A Cappella has performed at the Forest City Area Historical Society each year since 2015 to rave reviews. The group's Director, Katie O'Neill, a native of Pleasant Mount, noted the group covers an eclectic mix of songs and styles, all of which are arranged by the members.

Admission to this Historical Society fund raiser is $5.00 for adults, children under 12 free. The Forest City Area Historical Society is Handicapped Accessible.

Mt. View Garden Club Plant Exchange Set

The Mountain View Garden Club is sponsoring its 14th Plant Exchange & Marketplace on June 3, 2018. This year's event will be held at the Clifford Township Community Center, 119 Cemetery St, Clifford. If it warms up out there and our perennials start to come up through the frozen ground, we'll have lots of perennials for sale or you can exchange two perennials from your own garden for two of like size and value. We ask that you pot the perennials you're planning to exchange. The Plant Sale & Exchange will open at 1:00.

From 11:30 until 3:00 various local artisans and businesses will be selling their wares.

The Clifford Township Historical Society's Museum of Local History and the Children's Garden will be open for you to tour. There will be food vendors and live music by Jim Carro & Friends.

Quilt Show Eat And Greet Set

The Grace Lutheran Church, located at 351 Greenwood Street in Hop Bottom, will host a Quilt Show Eat & Greet event sponsored by B/S/S/T Area Agency on Aging, Inc. on Thursday, April 26 at 11:00am. This event is free and open to adults 60 and older. Lunch will be served at noon. Reservations are required by 10:00am on April 24, and can be made by calling 1-800-634-3746. Quilters interested in sharing their work are welcome and encouraged to call 1-800-634-3746 for more information.

Mt. View Theater To Present Plays

The Mountain View Theater Group will perform "After Math" and "Bedtime Stories as Told by Our Dad Who Messed Them Up". Shows will be on April 20 and 21, at 7 pm in the Mountain View High School Auditorium. Tickets are $5, all seats.
