John J. “John-boy” Stager

John J. Stager, 63, of Ararat Township, PA passed away on Thursday, March 22, 2018 at his home after an illness. 

John was predeceased by his parents, Jacob and Evelyn (Langman) Stager; grandparents, Ernest and Pearl Langman; sisters and brothers-in-law, Bernice and Bruce Bedford and Marion and Maynard Glover; Aunt, Elizabeth Del Sontro; nephew, Paul Glover, niece, Diana Cook and his beloved dog, Shadow.

He is survived by his aunts, Ernestine Dick of Blairstown, NJ, and Marjorie Murray of Columbia, NJ; nephews, Steve and Mary Jo Glover of Susquehanna, PA, and Todd and Sharon Glover of Clarks Summit, PA; niece, Mary Mapes of Deposit, NY; cousin, Edith Timberman, Blairstown, NJ; several other nieces, nephews, and cousins.  Also surviving are many neighbors and friends with whom he had the utmost respect for:  Bob and Christine Johnson and family; Bob and LaVern VanTassell, Wally Pikula and family; and his buddies, Todd Merkle, and Texman.

John grew up following his father’s footsteps running the family dairy farm.  After retiring his farm, he continued working with other local farmers doing daily chores.  He always looked forward to hunting season. It was during this time he had many friends from all over come by to visit and hunt on the farm.  He loved to share stories with anyone who had time to listen.  He will be dearly missed by all of his family and friends.  

The family will receive friends at the Hennessey’s Funeral Home, 747 Jackson Ave., Susquehanna, PA on Saturday, March 31, 10:00 – Noon, with the Funeral Service immediately following.

Interment will be held in the Gelatt Cemetery, Gelatt, PA.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Thompson Hose Company, PO Box 419, Thompson, PA 18465.

Raymond F. Cordner

Raymond Cordner, 67 of Lamb Road, Thompson, PA passed away unexpectedly on Sunday, March 18, 2018 at his home.

He was predeceased by his parents, Ray and Elsie Cordner and his brother, Robert Cordner.

Raymond was survived by his loving wife of 45 years, Flordaliz Cordner; children, Tracey Kazmier and Paul Cordner; grandchildren, Steven and Patricia Cordner and Payton, Maya and Lexie Kazmier; great-grandchildren Khloe Cordner-Doyle and Vincent Rafferty; brother, Russell Cordner; many nieces, nephews and cousins.

Raymond served in the United States Air Force during both the Vietnam and Persian Gulf Wars. He retired from the Air Force in 1991 and moved back to Thompson, PA with his wife, Flordaliz to live out his retirement. Raymond was a loving and kind husband, father and grandfather who will be dearly missed by all of his family, friends and dogs.

There are no services scheduled at this time.
