SCCTC Project Open House

An Open House will be held on December 19, 2017 from 1-7 pm at 1911 Hunsinger Road, Springville, PA 18844. The home was designed and constructed by the Building Trades students at the SCCTC and is a vinyl and cultured stone, three-bedroom home with 2–1/2 baths. The house’s highlights include quartz countertops, TREX front porch and rear deck, full concrete walled basement, cultured stone and vinyl exterior, 30-year architectural shingles, Anderson windows and a two-car attached garage.

The project took approximately two full school years to complete. From the setting of the concrete walls for the basement to the finishing work on the custom-built staircase, students were hands-on in all aspects of the building process and got to experience what a career in the building trades will entail. Executive Director Dr. Alice M. Davis stated, “This is a great educational opportunity for students to apply the knowledge acquired in the classroom to the work site.”

Refreshments will be served and all are welcome. Visitors attending the Open House will be given tours by the students who helped construct the home. This will give the students the opportunity to showcase their craftsmanship and hard work to the community.

Students are currently planning and designing the next house project, which will break ground in the spring.
