EMTC Bringing Women To Stage
Submitted By Staci Wilson
Coming off their successful summer staging of “Guys and Dolls,” Endless Mountains Theatre Company is proud to bring audiences a unique, dramatic theater experience with their fall production, “Love, Loss and What I Wore.”
The Drama Desk award-winning play was written by Nora and Delia Ephron and based on the best-selling book by Ilene Beckerman.
EMTC brings it to the stage, Sunday, Nov. 12, at 3 p.m., at the WHDA Studio, third floor of the former NBT building, 1017 Main St., Susquehanna.
The play is arranged as a series of monologues and ensemble pieces about women, clothes and memories, covering all the important subjects – mothers, prom dresses, bras, purses, and why we only wear black.
“I can’t wait to share this with the audience,” said director Staci Wilson. “Women will be able to relate to the different stories as told by the characters. Our clothes tell a very personal story.”
The play revolves around the telling of the life-story of the character, Gingy (June Wootton), and the clothes she remembers as part of her story.
Wootton is joined on the stage by six other women, all of whom take on multiple roles: Bonnie Love-Colwell, Heather Considine, Kimberly Fisher, April Holgate, Sandra Raub and Patricia Vietri.
Wilson said, “Working with this cast has been an amazing and personally touching experience. They have shared their own experiences from the laugh out loud funny, to the bittersweet and sad. It’s the collection of those experiences - both in the play and in real life - that show the true strength of women.
“I encourage everyone to bring the women they love to this show,” Wilson said. “It promises to be a fun, entertaining and empowering afternoon.”
Parents, however, are cautioned that this show includes adult themes and strong language and is not recommended for children.
Dessert will be served and is included in the ticket price. Doors open at 2:30 p.m.; with the show beginning at 3 p.m. Tickets will be available at the door on the day of the show.
