OCTOBER 26
BLOOD DRIVE: Due to the latest tragedies there is a need to replenish the blood supply. St. Marks Church, located in New Milford, PA, will be holding a Community Blood Drive on Thursday, October 26th. The hours are from 1:30PM to 6:30PM.
OCTOBER 28
FREE LUNCH: The Stone Soup Kitchen of Christ Church, located on the corner of Delaware and Dundaff Street, Forest City, is having its free monthly community luncheon on Saturday, October 28th. The hours are from 12PM to 1:30PM. All are welcome!
CARING CAFE: The United Methodist Community Church, located on Main St., Great Bend, will be having it's Caring Cafe on Saturday, October 28. The Caring Café, which is a free community dinner, will be from 4PM to 6PM. All are welcome, enjoy food, fellowship, and music! Meal provided by St. Lawrence Catholic Church. Dinner music by Carl and Friends.
GUN RAFFLE: The Thompson Hose Co. will be having it's gun raffle on Saturday, Oct. 28th starting at 5:30PM. You must call 570-442-1107 to get a ticket to enter into the raffle. Tickets will be available at the door, but will not enter you into the raffle. There will be basket raffles and free food/drink. Anyone wanting to donate a basket can call 570-442-1038.
ROAST BEEF SUPPER: The Thompson United Methodist Church, 586 Main Street, Thompson, will be having a roast beef supper on Saturday, Oct. 28th. Take-out is at 4:30PM and dine-in begins at 5PM. All are welcome!
OCTOBER 29
HALLOWEEN PARTY: The Gardner-Warner Post 154, PA American Legion in Montrose will be having a Halloween Party on Sunday, October 29. The party is from 1PM to 3PM for ages 10 and under. There will be games, prizes and fun!
Singspiration: The First Baptist Church, Main St., New Milford will be having a singspiration starting at 6PM. Please bring a dessert to share. All are welcome to enjoy a time of singing.
OCTOBER 31
HALLOWEEN PARADE: There will be a Halloween Parade at the Oakland Park in Susquehanna, on Tuesday, October 31st at 5:00PM. There will be free refreshments and prizes!
TRUNK or TREAT: The Thompson Hose Co. annual Trunk or Treat will be Tuesday, October 31st from 6PM to 8PM at the fire station. There will be free refreshments and smoke alarms. Anyone wanting to participate can call 570-442-1107.
TRICK or TREAT: Thompson Borough will be celebrating Halloween on Tuesday, October 31, from 6PM to 8M.
NOVEMBER 3 and 4
FALL PLAY: Mt. View High School Drama Club presents Horror Movie 101. The play will be featured on Friday, Nov. 3rd and Saturday, Nov. 4th, 7PM, at Mt. View High School in Kingsley. Tickets will be sold at the door.
NOVEMBER 4
CLEAN-UP DAY: The Lakeview Cemetery in Jackson Township, will be having its fall clean up day on Saturday November 4th at 9AM.
NOVEMBER 7
Chicken N Biscuit Dinner: The Clifford United Methodist Church, located on Main St., Clifford, will be having a chicken n biscuit or ham dinner. The dinner will be held on Tuesday, November 7th from 4PM to 6PM. If you cannot dine-in, take-out will also be available.
NOVEMBER 11
CONCERT: The Lanesboro Community Church, located on Main St, Lanesboro, is having an old southern gospel concert on Saturday, November 11th at 6PM. Refreshments will be served in the fellowship room. All are welcome to come and join in.
CRAFT FAIR: Annual Artisan Craft Fair will be held at the Mt View Elementary School on Saturday, Nov. 11th from 10AM to 3PM. This is a free admission indoor event. If you are interested in renting a space please contact MVSDCraftfair@gmail.com. All proceeds to benefit the Mt View Students. There will be over 100 artisans, bake sale, basket raffles and food. All are welcome!

FREE COATS: There will be a free coat drive at the St. Mark's Church on Monday, Nov. 13, Tuesday, Nov. 14 and Wednesday, Nov. 15th from 10AM to 2PM.

Steamtown Holiday Express Excursions

Steamtown National Historic Site will operate diesel-powered “Holiday Express” excursions to Moscow, Pennsylvania on Friday, Saturday and Sunday, November 24 – 26. Phone and in-person reservations opened on Tuesday, October 10 at 9:00 a.m.
Join us for a great beginning to the winter holiday season. Our festive excursions offer caroling aboard the trains to Moscow, where the “big guy in the red suit” will be waiting. At the restored freight station, adults can help their youngsters write letters for Santa to take with him to the North Pole, make holiday arts and crafts, see a model train and village exhibit, and even take “selfies” with jolly old St. Nick! Light refreshments, along with souvenirs, will be available for sale at the station stop.
Departure times from Steamtown NHS are Friday, November 24 and Saturday, November 25 at 9:30 a.m. and 1:30 p.m. with return times to the park scheduled for approximately 11:45 a.m. and 3:45 p.m. respectively. On Sunday, November 26, departure time is 12:30 p.m. with return time to the park at approximately 2:45 p.m. Trains begin boarding 30 minutes prior to departure.
Passenger coaches will be propane-heated but may be chilly so dress according to the weather. Note that the coaches will not be accessible for individuals with mobility issues. Seats are limited and available on a first-come, first-served basis by phoning 570-340-5204, 9:00 a.m. – 4:00 p.m.; sorry, internet and email orders/sales are not available.

Masquerade Ball

Come to the 2nd Annual Mystical Masquerade Ball to benefit the development of the Susquehanna County Recreation Center, being held at Heart Lake Lodge on Saturday, Oct. 28th, from 6 to 11pm.

This event is sure to be a fun filled night, with live entertainment featuring Daddy-O and the Sax Maniacs. A ticket includes cocktail hour and a full sit down gourmet dinner with an open bar. There will be a live auction and prizes for the best disguise. The proceeds will support the construction of a facility that fulfills the needs of Susquehanna County focusing on fitness, wellness and social togetherness in a welcoming and encouraging environment for all ages.

Open House & Brunch Event
Whether you are looking for a new adventure or just to enjoy a nice lunch with some friends in a cozy setting, B/S/S/T Area Agency on Aging, Inc. wants you to see why your local Senior Center should be your first stop. The Blue Ridge Senior Center, located at 81 Elizabeth Street in Great Bend, is open Monday through Friday from 9:00am to 2:00pm and offers those age 60 and older opportunities for recreation and socialization. On Friday, November 17 from 9am to 2pm, the Blue Ridge Senior Center will host a Brunch Open House event, featuring an array of delicious breakfast items for lunch. After lunch, activities such as bingo will be offered. Interested attendees are asked to make a meal reservation by Tuesday, November 14 by calling 1-570-879-2896.

Susquehanna Rocks For Area Seniors
B/S/S/T Area Agency on Aging, Inc. cordially invites seniors age 60 and over to a free “Susquehanna Rocks” Event on Wednesday, November 8 at the First United Methodist Church, located at 69 Pratt Street in New Milford. The fun begins at 11:00am with the chance to paint a rock, hide a rock, and search for other painted rocks. Lunch will be served at noon, with menu to include rotisserie chicken, stewed tomatoes, peas & carrots, macaroni & cheese, and fruit gelatin with whipped topping. Reservations are required to attend, by 10:30am on November 2, and can be made by calling 1-800-634-3746.

Mt. View Garden Club Meeting
The Mountain View Garden Club will hold its monthly meeting on Tuesday, November 14th, 7:00pm at the Clifford Township Fire Hall, Route 106 in Clifford. Club member Nina Ruedemann, from Jeffers Farm, will present a Holiday Arrangement Demonstration. Those wishing to participate are asked to bring a soaked oasis, container and any special accessories they would like to include.
The Garden Club Christmas Party will be held on Tuesday evening, December 12th at Pettinato's Restaurant, 78 Dundaff Street in Carbondale. A cocktail hour will begin at 6:00pm followed by an Italian Buffet at 7:00pm.
Dues are now being collected for 2018.
