Josephine H. Oakley Sanderson
Josephine was born near Mingo Lake, PA on September 23, 1928 and entered into rest on September 22, 2017. She was predeceased by her parents, Bert and Mary Oakley; her sisters, Frances, Emma, Edith, Etta, and Florence; she married 3 times and all three husbands predeceased her; and by her oldest son, Earl Crissell, who was killed in Vietnam.
She was one of seven sisters and grew up in the country, leaving school at an early age. Her parents were strong and self sufficient people. During her lifetime, she worked numerous jobs to help support her family. She worked as a restaurant server for many years before her move to Florida. In Florida she worked at Jess Parrish Hospital in the dietary kitchen in Titusville, for 20 years until her retirement. Upon retiring, she returned to school to earn her CNA license and worked for Kelly services for the elderly.
During her final years, she suffered from asthma, kidney and lung problems, and Alzheimer’s Disease. This horrible disease took from us a vibrant active woman, robbing her and us of the personality she possessed. Our elderly population is suffering from the loss of their precious memories and living productive golden years.
Josephine is survived by one sister, Edna Luce; four children, Doris Phillips, Bernard Crissell, Carol Strong, John Mullins; many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews and cousins.
A funeral service was held, Saturday, September 30, 2017 at the First Baptist Church, Hallstead.
Interment will be made in Rose Hill Cemetery.
Arrangements were under the direction of the Tuttle-Yeisley Funeral Home, Inc. Hallstead, PA.
