Susky Students Visit DTE Energy

On September 13th, 15 students in grades 10-12 at Susquehanna Community High School visited DTE Energy in Gibson for an educational field trip. Mike Floore spoke to the students initially, explaining the variety of job professions that are available in the natural gas industry. He then introduced several other employees that work out in the field and in the office setting as well. They each identified themselves and explained the vital role that they play in this company.

Geared for safety and ready to go!

Afterwards, students loaded up on safety gear and took a tour of a local compression station. Following the compression station experience, the students then took a tour of Lackawanna College. Students ended their day back at DTE Energy for lunch.

Throughout the day, these 15 students actively engaged in ongoing conversations with staff and employees. Students had several questions for them and were very enthusiastic about their day. There was a great amount of positive feedback from the students and they learned a lot more, in-depth information about the natural gas programs and what they have to offer.

DTE Energy’s staff and employees that were with these students throughout the day were professional, friendly, informative, and enthusiastic with our students. This trip would not have been possible if it wasn’t for the ongoing support from the Claire Williams O’Neil Foundation, who helped fund this event. It was truly a unique and rewarding opportunity for our students at Susquehanna Community High School.
