END OF SUMMER CELEBRATION: Saturday September 3rd from 9am to 3pm. Thompson United Methodist Church is having its annual End Of Summer Celebration in Thompson, PA. The Garage is filled to the brim with items, Fill The Can with Cookies and Bake sale, craft and vendors, Terry Rockwell will be performing and the Chicken BBQ will begin at 11:00am. CREATIVE CRAYONS CLOSING: Friday, September 9th, Creative Crayons in Hallstead is unfortunately ending services as a child care provider. While this is a blow to Mrs. Conklin and her staff on a personal level, they did nothing but care and love our communities children and helped them grow and learn. There will be a liquidation sale of the toys, furniture, etc of what is in the center. If you have any questions, call Sara at the center 570-879-0944.

Volunteers play a vital role in the Hospice program at Lourdes by providing care and support for terminally ill patients, their families and friends. Lourdes is offering a training program for people interested in working as volunteers with Lourdes Hospice. If you possess respect and reverence for life, a positive outlook, sensitivity, compassion, empathy, flexibility, a sense of humor and the willingness to help others, then Hospice patients need you!
A weekend training session will be held on October 8, 9, 15 and 16 from 9:00 am -4:30pm each day. All sessions will be held at Hospice Office, 4102 Old Vestal Rd, Vestal.
A number of topics are covered during the training including the history and philosophy of Hospice Care, Death-Grief-Losses, communication skills and psychological issues. After completing the training and requirements, volunteers have the opportunity to assist in a number of areas including home care, delivery and errands, meals, bereavement, nursing homes, inpatient, office duties and much more.

The Forest City Area Historical Society is proud to announce an “Acoustic” concert by the regional band “Crashing Aperture”, Saturday August 27th, 7:00pm at the Historical Society Museum and Concert Hall, corner of Main and Dundaff Stree in forest City.
