AUGUST 13

Open House and Book Sale: Saturday, August 13th from 2:00pm to 5:00pm at the Pratt Memorial Library in New Milford. Free refreshments, door prizes and entertainment.

BBQ: Saturday, August 13th from 11-2pm, East Ararat United Methodist Church will be having another BBQ. ½ Chicken, corn on the cob, baked beans, coleslaw, cup cake, roll. AUGUST 14

Open House and Blue Grass Show: Calvary Baptist Church of Alford, Sunday afternoon August 14, 2016. The blue grass band ‘New Appalachia’ will be play and refreshments will be served. Any donations given will go to help support ‘New Appalachia’ in their musical endeavors. The church is located 3.7 miles north of Kingsley just off Route 11. Watch for signs. LWV To Present Incinerator Facts

Global Expert To Speak

The Susquehanna County League of Women Voters will host an event free and open to the public. First in the Series, This program features a presentation from scientist, distinguished academic and global expert, Dr. Paul Connett who will use his expertise to speak on issues relating to the proposed incinerator including safety, siting, environmental impact, regulatory processes, economic, politics and public health and the role of citizens in a democracy.

The program will be held Tuesday, August16 from 7:00pm – 9:30pm at the Blue Ridge High School Auditorium, 5150 School Rd., New Milford, PA.

Dr. Paul Connett is a graduate of Cambridge University and holds a Ph.D. in chemistry from Dartmouth College. From 19830 to 2006 he taught chemistry at St. Lawrence University in Canton, NY where he specialized in Environmental Chemistry and Toxicology. Over the past 30 years his research on waste management has taken him to 49 states in the US, 7 provinces of Canada and 62 other countries, where he has given over 2500 pro bono public presentations. Ralph Nader said of Paul Connett, “He is the only person I know who can make waste interesting.”

Free medicine Seminar Set

Are you confused by Medicare? Do you have questions you need answered?

Join Hollie Irvine, B/S/S/T AAA, Inc. APPRISE Coordinator, for a Medicare Seminar on Thursday, September 29, 2016, from 10:00a.m. to 12:00p.m., at the Montrose VFW in Montrose, PA.

Hollie will explain the basics of Medicare and help you understand how the various parts work together. She is eager to answer your questions and will have resources and materials on hand.
