North Branch River Festival

In these lazy, hazy, crazy days of summer, what is more relaxing than paddling a canoe or kayak down our mighty Susquehanna River? Our North Branch of the Susquehanna has been given the distinction of being the “2016 River of the Year”, and what better way to celebrate, than with a festival. The Festival will be a two-day event, Saturday, August 20th and Sunday, August 21st. Check-in begins at 9:00 AM on the 20th at Victory Park, Oakland, Pa, where you can park your vehicle and be shuttled to the starting point of the Pine Crest Campground, Route 79, Windsor, New York. This includes canoe/kayak transfers.

The family-friendly, 6 mile paddle will begin at noon. “The Look” (Kevin and Kathy Grausgruber) will be performing that evening from 6 to 8 PM. Day two (the 21st) is bound to be exciting with 2.5 mile kayak/canoe races, beginning at the Oakland Access Area, Route 92N, and ending at Victory Park, Oakland, Pa. Once again, due to limited parking, you will be shuttled from Victory Park to the Oakland Access for the 9:00 AM start. The races will be divided by age groups. The entry fees for both days are $25.00 per person, $10.00 per child under 12 yrs. of age. The entry fees include a mandatory $5.00 ACA Insurance Coverage. Each participant must submit a registration form and the appropriate ACA Waiver Form. This includes any children who participate. All fees are non-refundable and non-transferable. Please mail forms and entry fees to: Susquehanna Community Development Association, c/o Joni Miller; 852 West Main Street; Susquehanna. There will be food, drinks, overnight camping, various vendors, prizes and a whole lot of fun!
