Doris T. Gere
Doris T. Gere, 91, of North Syracuse, NY, passed away July 5, 2016.
She was born in Brooklyn, PA, a small farming community in Susquehanna County. She graduated from Brooklyn Vocational High School and the University of Pennsylvania. Doris was born one of six children to William and Anna Tiffany. It was in Brooklyn while in grade school that she met Homer Gere. In 1945, she married her childhood sweetheart and have been together the for last 70+ years. They moved to North Syracuse in 1951 where they raised their five children. Doris was a vibrant, creative and intelligent woman. She was a seamstress and loved quilting. She was a member of the Plank Road Quilt Guild and especially loved making quilts for her family and friends. She was also a member of Andrews Memorial United Methodist Church.
She is survived by her beloved husband, Homer G. Gere; her children, Susan Gere (James Leone) of Belmont, MA, Richard Gere of New York City, Joanne Gere of Springville, PA, David Gere (Peter Carley) of Los Angeles, CA and Laura Gere (Oscar Lazaro) of Needham, MA; her grandchildren, Megan, Matthew, Genevieve, Caroline, Homer, Rick, Frank, Christopher, Isadora, Stefan and Isabella; 5 great-grandchildren; and her brother, Robert Tiffany of Wayne, PA.
Funeral services were held Saturday July 9, 2016.

Thomas Tinklepaugh, 67, of Susquehanna, PA, passed away on Tuesday, July 12, 2016, at Our Lady of Lourdes Hospital in Binghamton, NY after a ten year battle with lung cancer. Thomas was born in Susquehanna, PA to the late Tunis C. and Elizabeth (Walton) Tinklepaugh.
He is survived by his loving wife of 47 years, Marla (Glover) Tinklepaugh; son, Anthony Tinklepaugh; daughter and son-in-law, Amy and Bill Collins; sister and brother-in-law, Patricia and G. Kimball Corbin; grandchildren, Chloe Tinklepaugh and Memphis and Brooke Collins; brother -in-law, Norman Glover; Aunt, Emma Keat; many nieces, nephews and cousins. Tom was also blessed with many dear friends.
Tom served in the U.S. Army from 1969-71, spending a year in Vietnam as a helicopter mechanic. He was employed by Ilford Imaging prior to becoming ill. He loved cars, drag racing and camping, but Tom’s greatest joys in life were his family and attending the various activities of the lights of his very soul, his grandchildren. Tom attended the United Methodist Church where he always was helping when he could.
The family would like to thank Dr. B Patel of Barnes Kasson for his loving care of Tom. Also, Dr. Yalamanchili and all the staff of Broome Oncology as well as all the nurses and doctors who attended to him while he was a patient in Lourdes. No one could ever ask for more loving and compassionate caregivers.
A memorial service will be held at the First United Methodist Church in Susquehanna, PA, on Friday, July 22, 2016, at noon with Rev. Vincent Chiaramonte officiating.
Interment will be held in the St. Lawrence Cemetery, Great Bend, PA at a later date.
The family will receive friends at the First United Methodist Church on Friday, July 22, 2016, from 11 am Noon.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Thomas’s honor to the First United Methodist Church in Susquehanna, PA or Angel Flight East 1501 Narcissa Rd., Blue Bell, PA.
