Kathryn “Kacky” C. Schroeder

Kathryn “Kacky” C. Schroeder, 92, of North Jackson, Pa passed away peacefully Saturday, March 26, 2016, surrounded by her family at the United Methodist Homes, Hilltop Campus, Johnson City, NY.

Kacky was born on May 18, 1923 in New York City, NY and was the daughter of the late Donata and Luigi Castronova. She was a sister to many, Victoria Davis (predeceased), Mae Ohnigian (predeceased), John Castronova (predeceased), Ann and Dennis Edgington, Venice, FL, Margie and Pete Wagner, Palm Harbor, FL, Phil Castronova, Little Ferry, NJ, Rosemarie Felice, Bayside, NY and Joseph and Helen Castronova, North Jackson, PA.  She was married on August 10, 1947 to the late, Roscoe Schroeder and was a beloved aunt to many nieces and nephews.

Upon graduation from high school, Kacky began her career at Greg Publishing and then McGraw Hill Publishing, both in New York City, as a secretary. After a successful career in New York City, she moved with her husband to North Jackson, PA and became the Assistant to the Registrar at SUNY-Binghamton University.  Kacky took great pride in her job and was an impeccable employee. Her shorthand skills and attention to detail were something every one of her employers valued greatly.

Kacky was an amazing cook and loved to entertain her family and friends with her delicious meals.  She loved to sew and took a great amount of time altering and redesigning her clothes. Kacky was an eternal optimist and a devout Catholic.  She took great solace in her faith in God.

The family would like to thank United Methodist Homes, Hilltop Campus for their wonderful care and compassion given to Kacky, especially Joann Young.

A mass of Christian Burial was held in honor of Kacky on Saturday, April 2, at St. Martin of Tours Roman Catholic Church, 8175 State Route 492, Jackson, PA.

Interment will be held in the North Jackson Cemetery, North Jackson, PA.

Arrangements are by Hennessey’s Funeral Home.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Kacky’s honor to St. Martin of Tours Roman Catholic Church.

Myrna Ellen Lamb

Myrna Ellen Lamb, 82, of Thompson, PA, passed away Tuesday, March 29, 2016.

She was predeceased by her parents, Maurice and Virla (Glover) Lamb, a brother, Elvin Lamb, brother-in-law, James Lee and nephew, Roger Lamb.

Myrna is survived by a sister, Erma Lee, brother and sister-in-law, Lewis and Margaret Lamb, sister-in-law, Geraldine Lamb, several nieces and nephews.

Myrna worked on the family farm and enjoyed planting flowers in her garden and doing needle work.  She was a member of the Rebekah Lodge for many years.

In honoring Myrna’s wishes, there were no calling hours. A graveside service at the Thompson Cemetery, Thompson, PA.

Expressions of sympathy in Myrna’s name can be made to the Thompson Hose Company, PO Box 419, Thompson, PA 18465.
