Margie Dawn Burman
Margie Dawn Truex Fiske Burman, 62 of Lackawanna Ave. Hallstead, PA passed away Friday, January 15, 2016 after an illness at Penn Hospice at Rittenhouse in Philadelphia, PA.
Margie was born in Susquehanna, PA the daughter of the late Clair and Maxine (Stanton) Truex. She was predeceased by her first husband William (Billy) Wakeman Fiske III, her 3 sons, and her brother-in-law Philip Medlar.
She was survived by her husband Roger Burman; 3 daughters and son-in-law’s Tonya and Larry Medlar, Teresa and Tom Ballard, and Tara and Tim Bedford; 7 grandchildren Brittany, Connor and Cooper Medlar, Stephanie and Ryan Ballard, and Tayla and TyAnn Bedford; her “adopted” daughter Gerry Hallisey; 4 sisters Linda Medlar, Judy (Richard) Welch, Loann (Ed) Seymour and Cherie (Randy) Conklin; 1 brother Tim (Robin) Truex; many nieces, nephews and great nieces and great nephews.
Margie was a member of the American Legion. She loved to play games, work on puzzles and spend time with family and friends. She was full of heart and would do anything for anyone. She loved to make people laugh and will be dearly missed by all who knew her.
A Funeral Service will be held on Thursday, January 21, 2016, at 11am, at the Hennessey’s Funeral Home, 747 Jackson Ave. Susquehanna, PA, with Rev. Kenneth Tapper officiating.
Interment will be held in the McKune Cemetery, Susquehanna, PA.
The family will receive friends at the Funeral Home, on Wednesday, January 20, 2016, from 6 to 9pm.
In lieu of flowers the family is requesting “Teddy Bears.”
John Arthur Charles (Jack) Keenan
John Arthur Charles Keenan (Jack) 59 of Binghamton, NY passed away at Wilson Memorial Hospital on January 14, 2016 following a short time of illness. A native of Susquehanna, PA, he worked at Wilson Memorial and enjoyed outside activities with family and friends. He was a member of the Pleasant View Baptist Church of Morganton, NC. The son of the late Byron C. Keenan and Shirley A. Keenan of Morganton, NC. He is also survived by his wife Kari and sons, Brandon and Matthew at home; children John (Kristy) Heesh, Heather (Matt) Orner, Danielle (Mike) Dibble, Ashley Keenan (Jesse Jake); seven grandchildren, Miranda, Deegan, Rylea, Christopher, Hunter, Skyla, and Bray; brothers, Robert Keenan and Dr. Burt Wilbur; sisters, Patricia Davis and Francesca Crane and their spouses; mother-in-law, Karen Boigeol. He was predeceased by best friends, Frank "Pumpkin" Lake and Ed "Pruner" Groover. A memorial service was held on January 17, 2016. In lieu of flowers, the family has requested donations be sent in memory to Broome-Tioga Boces, 435 Glenwood Road, Binghamton, NY 13905-1699.
LAURENCE R. (LARRY) OSTERHOUT
Laurence R. Osterhout, 96, of Hallstead, PA passed away peacefully on January 15, 2016 at Barnes-Kasson SNF. He was predeceased by his wife of 66 years, Sara Osterhout, a brother, Willis Roosa, and a sister, Jean Cushman.
Larry is survived by his daughter, Donna and Don Comer, Hallstead, PA; a son, Albert (Butch) Osterhout, Hallstead, PA; four grandchildren, David and Lisa Comer, Daniel and Sandra Comer, William Osterhout, Christina Rex; nine great grandchildren; sisters, Joan Jones, Binghamton, NY, and Leah Wooster, Columbus, IN; and several nieces and nephews.
Larry retired from Pennsylvania American Water. He was a proud Navy veteran serving on The USS Balch during WWII, the Asian Pacific Theatre, and the Korean Conflict. He was a lifetime member of the American Legion Post #357 and the V.F.W. Post #6223. When he returned from WWII he earned his private airplane pilot’s license along with a group of other WWII veterans in our area. Larry was a member of the Hallstead/Great Bend Rod and Gun Club, the New Milford Rifle and Pistol Club, and past master and member of the Bluestone Lodge for over 60 years.
Larry loved to hunt, fish, and tend his vegetable and flower gardens. He took great pleasure in sharing fish and vegetables with his friends and family. He will be fondly remembered and greatly missed by all his family and friends.
The family would like to thank all the staff at B-K SNF, including Dr. P. Patel, for their compassionate care.
A funeral service will be held at the Tuttle-Yeisley Funeral Home, Inc., Hallstead, PA on Wednesday, January 20, 2016 at 6:00 p.m. with Pastor Dennis Dillman. Friends may call from 4-6 p.m. prior to the service. Spring interment will be made in Rose Hill Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the First Presbyterian Church, P.O. Box 370, Hallstead, PA 18822.
Louise Miller Tiffany
Louise Miller Tiffany, age 97 of Susquehanna, PA died on Thursday, January 14, 2016 in the Barnes Kasson Hospital Skilled Nursing Facility in Susquehanna, PA. She was born on December 7, 1918 in Susquehanna, the daughter of the late Allan D. Miller and Ethel Whitney Miller. Married to J. Lee Tiffany, she had three children. An area resident all her life, she was a member of the Susquehanna Methodist Church and a proud, lifelong member of the Daughter’s of the American Revolution.
Mrs. Tiffany graduated from the Susquehanna Community High School and attended Mansfield University; she was a stay at home mother while her children were young. Later she served as the business manager for the Susquehanna Community Schools Cafeterias and was proud of successfully selling the family owned propane business after the death of her husband, J. Lee (Jack) in 1983. She was predeceased by her sister, Dorothy Miller Kane, and several cousins. After her retirement she devoted her time to her family and friends.
Survivors include one son, David (Margaret) Tiffany of Fredonia, NY and two daughters, Nancy (Dr. Warren) DeWitt and Lynn (Roland) Salamon, both of Susquehanna; also seven grandchildren, David (Michele) Tiffany Jr. of Greencastle, PA, Katherine Tiffany of Clementon, NJ, Ellen DeWitt (Dylan Pillsbury) of Dos Rios, CA, Carrie Louise DeWitt (Jamie Simchik) of Boston, MA, Kathryn DeWitt (Tyler Phillips) of Susquehanna, Emily (Brian) Bulman of East Norriton, PA, and Leah (Juan) Curry of Uniontown, PA; also, nine great-grandchildren; Sheena Savani, Zach and Abi Tiffany, Takoda and Nolly Pillsbury, Quinn and Jack Bulman, Julia and Christian Curry; and one great-great-grandson, Tyross Savani.
Special thanks to Wanda Peska, Kathy Borowicz and Jeorganne Darling who made it possible for her to stay in her own home until 6 months before her death.
Our very heartfelt thanks to Dr. P. Patel and the entire staff of the Skilled Nursing Facility who gave her such loving care while she was a resident there. She was fortunate to have such special people surrounding her every day.
