Letters to the Editor Policy

Did They Betray America?

Banner headlines, echoing public opinion, all but screamed, Immigration Is Out Of Control. Nonsense. Don't you believe it. Immigration is far from being out of control it is under control.

A border-less southern border with Mexico is what the multinational corporations wanted, and that's what they got. Signed, sealed, and delivered by the GOP and the DNC, a Northwest Passage of cheap labor into the United States was opened.

But can it be that both the Republicans and the Democrats are the handmaidens for the mega corps? Let's see. We'll take an in-depth look at the eight amnesty bills and how the Blues and the Reds voted for each.

1) Immigration and Reform Control Act of 1986. A blanket amnesty for 2.7 million illegals. President R, Senate R, House D.

2) Amnesty 1994. Another blanket amnesty this time for 580,000 illegals. President D, Senate R, House R.

3) Extension Amnesty of 1997 admitted 400,000 illegals. President D, Senate R, House R.

4) Nicaraguan Adjustment and Central American Relief Act of 1997 admitted one million illegals. President D, Senate R, House R.

5) Haitian Refugee Immigration Fairness Act Amnesty of 1998 admitted 125,000 illegals. President D, Senate R, House R.

6) Late Amnesty Act of 2000 admitted 400,000 illegals. President D, Senate R, House D.

7) Life Act Amnesty Act of 2000 admitted 900,000 illegals. President D, Senate R, House D.

8) The Development, Relief, and Education for Alien Minors Act of 2010 admitted 3.5 million illegals. President D, Senate D, House D.

Tallying the votes for the two major parties showed that the Republicans held the presidency seven times and the Democrats only once. But Democrats controlled the Senate seven times and the Republicans only once. For the House, the vote was split at 4 and 4.

It is apparent that both parties, the uni-party cartel, are responsible for admitting more than 6 million illegal aliens into the US without vetting, without oversight, and without regard for the consequences of their actions.

The United States is a nation of immigrants. It promised a new home for refugees seeking religious and political freedom, and economic opportunity. But the US is not, nor has it ever been the world's lifeboat where anyone and climb a board.

The government has the authority to regulate immigration, to impose quotas, define qualifications, establish restrictions, and even enforce outright prohibitions against certain classes of immigrants.

The eight amnesty acts that gave entry into the US to 6 million scofflaws is a blatant dereliction of the government's responsibility.

But political malfeasance would not be complete without two dishonorable mentions. First, Democrat Bill Clinton for passing the North American Free Trade Agreement (NAFTA) in 1993.

The Angus Reid Public Opinion Poll revealed that 80 percent of the populous were opposed to NAFTA. No matter. Commander In Thief didn't let that stand in his way. The mega corps got access to cheap labor, and Bill got what he wanted.

NAFTA was a boon to the multinationals, Mexico, and, we assume, Bill. But it was a blow to the US.

The trade pack caused factories to outsource production to cheaper cross-border labor markets, destroyed our industrial base, and created the rust belt of deteriorating plants and declining businesses.

Clinton's trade deal is also responsible for the US's exploding annual trade deficit with Mexico. Last year it was $55 billion. And it caused the loss of one million American manufacturing jobs.

Second on the dishonorable honor roll, Democrat Hussein Obama for his Comprehensive Immigration Bill of 2015.

This legislation would have legalized five million illegals, most of whom were Muslims. Alas, it failed but not for want of trying by what some consider to be our first affirmative action president. The Supreme Court overruled Hussein's unconstitutional executive order.

But all is not lost for the Democrats.

According to the Pew Research Center, there are 11.1 million illegal immigrates residing in the US. About 75 percent of these immigrants identify themselves as right-or-wrong supporters of the Democratic Party. If these gate-crashers are eventually granted the right to vote, it will constitute a potential voting block of an additional 8.3 million Democratic ballots.

Good for America? The president thinks so. How about you?

Sincerely,

Bob Scroggins

We Need Uncle Sam

After watching the President in that town hall meeting, it made me think back to during the world wars.

Not like I was there but the posters of them stick in my head,"Uncle Sam Wants You”.

Now maybe I am just naïve, but no matter what party you belong to we as a country need to help educate each other to the fact that Uncle Sam really needs us.

We need to protect each other and guard against crime and make our home, the United States of America a safe and friendly place to live. It would be nice to allow our children to enjoy life and to live the life that we had as children.

Just think of how bad some countries have it. To be too scared, as to leave their homes for fear of their safety.

Should it matter what faith they believe in when they are driven from the only home they know?

It seems (lately) that if you ask the wrong questions in America people look at you as a traitor or a protectionist. America was founded on freedoms. Now we are questioning each others loyalty?

Lets start doing what Uncle Sam asked us to do years ago, because “We Need” Uncle Sam now, more than ever!

Sincerely,

Peter Andrew Seman

Thompson, PA
