Oakland Sailor Gets National Award

MILLINGTON, Tenn. – Hospital Corpsman First Class Petty Officer Lamin Foray, a Sailor in Oakland, Pa., was selected as the Navy Recruiting Command Medical Officer Recruiter of the Year for 2014.

Foray was selected out of 4,460 Navy recruiters across the country and around the world for his dedication to recruiting the best and brightest the nation has to offer,

Foray was presented with this award during a ceremony at the Navy Memorial in Washington, D.C., on January 28. The awards ceremony was part of a weeklong tour of the nation’s capital for the national winners and included a tour of the Pentagon, the White House and meeting with the Chief of Navy Personnel.

Foray is currently attached to the Navy Officer Recruiting Station in Oakland as part of  Navy Recruiting District Pittsburgh. He has been recruiting for 2 years.

Foray felt proud to be recognized for this award.

“It is truly an honor to be selected among all of these great recruiters,” he said.

Foray is passionate about the Navy and the recruiting mission and it shows in his advice to other recruiters.

“Work hard, know the programs, be personable, know your applicants and care,” he said. “Share your experiences.”

Rear Adm. Annie B. Andrews, commander, Navy Recruiting Command, said she was proud to work with Sailors like Foray.

“It makes my job such a pleasure to interact with such hard working Sailors who are truly passionate about finding the best possible applicants to man the future of the Navy,” Andrews said.
