Elk Lake Forensics At Championship
After struggling at the last tournament of their regular season, the Elk Lake Forensics Team turned their fortunes around at the Pennsylvania High School Speech League District 8 Speech and Debate Championship on February 21, at Holy Redeemer HS in Wilkes-Barre.
Two Elk Lake students qualified to the PHSSL State Championship Tournament at Susquehanna University by placing in the top two in their events at this tournament.

Elk Lake PHSSL State Qualifiers Keeley Carney – 2nd in Lincoln-Douglas Debate and Kenneth Brittingham – 2nd in Senate.
In Lincoln-Douglas Debate, senior Keeley Carney compiled an undefeated record by defeating debaters from GAR and Abington Heights HS, placed second, and earned a slot at the State Championship Tournament.
Junior Kenneth Brittingham had a strong performance in Senate. He placed second in the event and will now be competing at the State Championship Tournament in March.
“These two put in strong performances when they needed to,” commented EL Forensics Director Keith Brosious.
