Ethan Mansfield, of New Milford, Pa., was named to the Spring 2014 Dean’s List at Penn State Mont Alto for achieving a semester grade-point average of 3.50 or higher.
During the spring term, Mansfield also received the College of Agricultural Sciences Alumni Society Award from Penn State Mont Alto and the Forest Technology Program Award from Penn State’s College of Agricultural Sciences.

Mansfield graduated in May 2014 from Penn State Mont Alto with an associate degree in forest technology and will continue his education at University Park this fall, working toward a bachelor's degree in forest ecosystem management.
During his time at Mont Alto, he was president of the Forestry Club and a member of the Woodsmen Team. He also served as the 2014 student representative on the Forest Technology Advisory Board.
The United States Achievement Academy announced today that Laura Graytock from Simpson, PA has been recognized by the United States Achievement Academy as a student of excellence in National Leadership and Service.

This is a prestigious honor very few students can hope to attain. In fact, the Academy recognizes fewer than 10% of all American high school students.
Laura, who attends Fell Charter, Simpson, PA, was nominated for this honor by Michael Rescigno, a teacher from her former school, Laura will appear in the United States Achievement Academy’s Official Yearbook which is published nationally.
“Recognizing and supporting our youth is more important than ever before in America’s history. Certainly, United States Achievement Academy students should be congratulated and appreciated for their dedication to excellence and achievement,” said Dr. George Stevens, Founder of the United States Achievement Academy.
The Academy recognizes students upon the exclusive recommendation of teachers, coaches, counselors, and other qualified sponsors and upon the Standards for Selection set forth by the Academy. The Standards for Selection include academic performance, interest and aptitude, leadership qualities, responsibility, enthusiasm, motivation to learn and improve, attitude and cooperative spirit, dependability, and recommendation from a qualified sponsor.
Laura is the daughter of Andrew M. Graytock Jr., Nashua, NY and Antoinette Graytock, Simpson, PA. The grandparents are Mr. and Mrs. Andew Graytock Sr., of Simpson, and Victoria Space, New Milford, PA.
Along with getting the award from the U.S.A.A., Laura also received (from Fell Charter School) the following highest average awards: Science, Math, World Cultures, ELA, Spanish and Physical Education. She also received the Certificate of Achievement and The Highest Average Overall Awards. She also attended the Marywood Math Competition; being only 1 of 4 our of 5th through 8th grade.
Steve Shelp of Union Dale, PA, has been named to the President's Honor Roll with a 4.00 grade point average for the Summer 2014 semester at Bismarck State College.
"BSC students are great; it is always gratifying when the honor roll comes out and they get the credit they deserve for their focus and hard work," said Dave Clark, BSC interim president.
Students must maintain a 4.00 grade point while enrolled in at least 12 semester hours of classes to receive this distinction.
