Canawacta NRA 3GE To Be Held

The Canawacta Rod & Gun Club held Pennsylvania’s first, and so far only, NRA .22 3GE (Three Gun Experience) events in June and July. These events are open to the general public and the last scheduled 3GE event in Pennsylvania will be held on Sunday, August 24 again at the club’s grounds on Oak Hill Road, 3.5 miles north of Susquehanna/Oakland, PA.

Unlike other three-gun shoots these new NRA-sanctioned events welcome participants of all ages and skill levels. The firearms used, .22LR semi-auto guns and rifles, are of a smaller caliber to typical shoots. While participants can competed against one another, if they like there is also an educational component for youths and adults. To facilitate that, loaner firearms are available for instruction and provided for the event to those who want to try them or who may not have all of three required.

3-Gun competitions have experienced a meteoric rise in popularity over the past few years. NRA Sports Program Specialist Samantha Olsen explains, “In fact, it's the fastest-growing action shooting sports in the world. The NRA, wanting to bring the fun, exhilarating, physical challenge to new and intermediate shooters, is introducing NRA Sports 3-Gun Shooting Events. Safe, mildly competitive, and fun for the whole family, these recreational experiences have something for everyone. Given the ever rising popularity an AirSoft or .22 version of the sport provides young or inexperienced shooters an opportunity to compete."

On Sunday, August 24, registration opens at 11AM, the events runs until about 3PM. For more information, including directions to the club and rules of the event, visit: www.canawacta.weebly.com or call 570-396-5033 or 607-343-1859.
