It was a bright, sunny morning, Wednesday, May 14th at Susquehanna Community Elementary School, and Geena Miller was ready to be recognized for her remarkable artistic abilities.
Geena, 6th grade student at Susquehanna Elementary, entered her artwork into the Pennsylvania Aviation Art Contest; there were over 100 entries entered statewide. This year’s theme was “Flying Saves Lives”. Geena took 3rd place in this year’s Aviation Contest.

James May, PennDOT, who presented the award, said “Geena’s artwork was not only very artistic but informative as well. She did a lot of research for it and that is why I liked hers”. Geena chose to display how Military Aircrafts saved lives throughout the number of wars in history; World War I, World War II, Vietnam, Desert Storm and Afganistan.
