The Susquehanna County Conservation District is offering a summer internship for the summer of 2014. The position is an opportunity to gain real world experience in agricultural and natural resource conservation. The District’s mission includes erosion and sedimentation control, stream restoration, dirt and gravel road protection, agricultural nutrient control and no-till planting promotion.
An intern would be expected to work with staff in all areas the District covers. If an intern wishes to use this experience in conjunction with college credit; the District will cooperate with the student’s needs and give priority to those applications. Applicants should have finished at least their first year of college on up to senior year. The District is looking for self-starters with an agriculture or natural resource major. A stipend will be provided at the end of summer.

Pennsylvania will put agriculture on display during the National Ag in the Classroom Conference, which will be held June 23-27, 2014 in Hershey.
Registration is now open. Pennsylvania has been selected to host the national conference, which is expected to draw several hundred educators from across the country.
Pennsylvania's statewide Ag in the Classroom Conference, normally held in State College, will be held in conjunction with the Hershey event. Pennsylvania teachers will be eligible for 15 continuing education credits. They can also apply to Pennsylvania Friends of Agriculture Foundation for sponsorship money. The National Ag in the classroom conference will feature a number of workshops and tours that highlight the diversity of Pennsylvania agriculture.
