Susquehanna Moose Lodge #794, chartered December 10, 1923, is celebrating its ninetieth anniversary. The Lodge, a fixture in the community for generations and inspired by its history has adopted the “The Tradition Returns”.
Amongst those traditions which the Lodge will revive are the Father Son/Daughter breakfasts, the annual Members party, and an anniversary celebration.
In commemoration of its anniversary the Lodge will be hosting an anniversary party. This anniversary provides an opportunity to recognize the Lodge’s contributions to numerous community volunteer organizations including: Sabers Varsity Football, Youth T-ball and Little League, Jr. Sabers Football, Youth Wrestling, Women’s Fire Auxiliary, local Boy Scouts and Sabers Varsity Basketball. The Lodge is not “just a bar” but a concerned member of our community and families.
Another proud part of the Lodge’s traditions is its donations to national charities such as Mooseheart Child City, Moosehaven Seniors City, National Arthritis Foundation, Special Olympics, Youth Awareness and Pennsylvania Moose Scholarships.
Over the course of the past year the Lodge has made great progress and strengthened itself by increasing its membership to over three hundred twenty-five (325); stabilized its financial condition through operation of weekly bingo with the cooperation of the Canawacta Rod and Gun Club and expanded fund raising activities. This will allow the Lodge to continue to expand its proud tradition of supporting our local and national volunteer organizations.
Lodge Governor Dick (Coach) Bagnell, Administrator Mike Keyes Jr., the Board of Directors and all the dedicated Moose staff and members are to be commended for keeping the Lodge’s traditions alive and passing them on to future generations. By preserving these traditions we honor our Lodge forebearers and pass this legacy on to future generations of Lodge members.
