Silver Lake Gets Park Playground

Three years ago, the Silver Lake Community Park was established to raise funds to install a playground and park in our township, at the Silver Lake Field Day Grounds. We have held several events for the children in our community, including a summer carnival day, Easter egg hunt, magic show, movie nights, and Halloween night. This has created opportunities for children to have fun, as well as students and teenagers to volunteer in our community, which is an important part of building a solid foundation for the future.

Thanks to the support of many local community members and business owners as well as numerous volunteers, we have scheduled the installation of the park for May 11, 2013.

As a 501(C)(3) non-profit organization we could not be successful without your support. Our funds are very low, due to the high cost of equipment. Tax deductible Donations are very important and can be made to: Silver Lake Community Park, P.O. Box 84 Brackney, PA 18812. Thanks, in advance for any consideration you can afford.

June Booths Is Resident Of Month

Each month The Forest City Nursing & Rehab Center recognizes the remarkable lives of its residents by honoring one of them. The Resident of the Month for April, 2013 is Mrs. June Booths.

June Booths, April Resident of the Month

June was born in Carbondale, PA to Evan and Helen Davis Coles. She graduated from Carbondale High School and Coit Memorial Hospital School of Nursing in Newark, NJ. Coit Memorial was also known as The Babies Hospital. It was here that June became expert at caring for infants, and loved doing so. June also worked at Hahnemann Hospital, known today as Geisinger-CMC, in Scranton, PA.

In the years to follow, June married Frank Edward Booths. A dedicated Pennsylvania State Trooper, Frank worked out of the Honesdale Barracks. The couple made their home in Carbondale, where they raised their three children: Bonnie, Debbie and Kurt. For more than 15 years June served as a Girl Scout Troop Leader. Her home served as the Girl Scout Cookie Station, which kept June and her daughters busy and active in the community. The Booths Family spent many wonderful summers at Seaside Heights, New Jersey. June also had some great times visiting her daughter Bonnie in Florida.

An avid New York Yankees fan, June attended her share of games at Yankee Stadium. June and her daughter Debbie were members of the bowling team known as The Fabulous Five, which they both loved.

These days June is the proud grandmother of three, and is a member of the Carbondale Baptist Church. At Forest City Nursing & Rehab you can find her enjoying the musical events, playing Bingo, attending craft hour or getting a manicure. Congratulations to June Booths on being our April Resident of the Month.
