Marie Soden

Mrs. Marie Isabell Soden, age 92, of Tyrone, formerly of Dushore, PA passed away peacefully on Wednesday, January 30, 2013 at Epworth Manor in Tyrone, PA.

Marie was born February 19, 1920 in Scranton, PA a daughter of the late Ralph & Agnes Sullivan Smith. She graduated from the Thompson High school a member of the class of 1938. She married Rexford G. Soden of Starrucca, PA on January 27, 1940. She and Rex moved to Sullivan County in 1962. Marie worked for many years at the Endicott-Johnson Shoe Mfg. Co of Mildred, PA. She later moved to Tyrone to be with her daughter Lorraine. Marie was a loving spouse, mother, grandmother and great grandmother.

Marie was a member of St. Basil’s Church, Dushore, PA, and St. Matthew’s Church, in Tyrone. PA.

Surviving are three sons: Joseph Soden , Dushore, PA; Stephen Soden, Jefferson, GA; Justin (Kathleen) Soden       Clarksville, TN; two daughters: Rosemary (Carmen) Cosentino, Susquehanna, PA; Lorraine D. (Mark I) Zabitz, PA; brother: Walter Smith, Wethersfield, CT; sister: Dorothy Bowers, Dushore, PA; sister-in-law: Wallie Smith, Longmont, CO.

Ten grandchildren, thirteen great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by two sons: Gerald James Soden on January 31, 1969 and Vincent Eugene Soden on September 22, 2008 and a grandson, Michael Cosentino in August 1997; two brothers, Father Jude Smith O.F.M and Clarence Smith.

A Transferal Service was held on Saturday, February 2, 2013 at 9:30 A.M. from the P. Dean Homer Funeral Home, 206 Water St., Dushore, PA and will be followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 A.M. at St. Basil’s Church, Dushore, PA with the Rev. Joseph R. Hornick, her pastor, presiding. Interment will be in the adjoining parish cemetery.

The family will provide the flowers and ask that memorial contributions be sent to the charity of your choice.

Gail Patton Seaman

Gail Patton Seaman, 69, of Great Bend, PA went to be with the Lord on January 31, 2013. She was predeceased by her husband, Kenneth Seaman in 1995. Also predeceased by her parents Francis and Emily Patton and a brother, Gerald Patton.

She is survived by three daughters, Andrea Braun and her sons, Daniel and Michael of Susquehanna, PA, Karen Seaman, Windsor, NY, and Jennifer Seaman and her precious daughter, Olivia of Great Bend, PA; a brother, Gary Patton of Rochester, NY; sisters, Grace Armfield of Binghamton, NY, Greta Price of Boston, MA, and Gloria and Howard Washburn of Greer, SC; also a sister-in-law, Joyce Patton of Binghamton; and several nieces and nephews.

She was a graduate of the Binghamton State Hospital School of Nursing and was employed as an RN at the Psychiatric Center, Binghamton, NY until her retirement. She did volunteer work for the Meals on Wheels program in both Great Bend, PA and Binghamton, NY.

At her request, there will be no services. Burial will take place in the New Milford Cemetery. Arrangements under the direction of the Tuttle-Yeisley Funeral Home, Inc., Hallstead, PA.
