For the 15th consecutive year, Pennsylvania Farm Bureau (PFB) is marking Food Check-Out Week by making deliveries of food, cash and other contributions to Pennsylvania's five Ronald McDonald Houses in Danville, Hershey, Philadelphia, Pittsburgh and Scranton. Pennsylvania farm families donated more than $60,000 to the Ronald McDonald Houses last year. The Food Check Out Week program was initiated by PFB's State Women's Leadership Committee in 1998. Since then, Pennsylvania farmers have collected more than $770,000 in food, cash and other donations through 2012.
PFB is very proud of these efforts, for the Ronald McDonald Houses provide a home away from home for families with seriously ill children receiving medical treatment at area hospitals. The items collected by Farm Bureau are used to help care for visiting families staying at the houses. Farm families are thrilled to play a small role in helping out the families who utilize these houses, which provide meaningful and compassionate assistance to families dealing with serious health issues.
Monetary gifts (checks should be made payable to the Scranton Ronald McDonald House) and grocery certificates are used to purchase perishable foods. Your support is needed to make this program a success. Please consider as generous a gift as you can to this most worthy cause. If you choose to participate please send all mailable donations to Emma Hinkley, 13140 Dimock to Nicholson Road, Hop Bottom, Pa. 18824.
