Donald L. Ballard, 76, of Susquehanna, PA entered into rest peacefully on December 22, 2012. He rejoins his late wife, Margaret, who predeceased him in 2004 and his two sons, Donald and Henry. Donald is survived by his children, Michael and Lisa Ballard, Cindy and Lee Wayman, Candy and George Yaskowiak, Donna Ballard, Jim and Julie Ballard, Dougy Ballard, Richard and Terry Ballard, Evey Ballard, William & Shelly Ballard; many grandchildren, great grandchildren, siblings, nieces, nephews, in-laws, and extended family. Prior to his retirement, Donald was employed with D&H Railroad as a track man. He loved to fish. He was a quiet, contented man. A funeral service will be held on December 27, 2012 at 11:00 a.m. at the Tuttle-Yeisley Funeral Home, Inc., Hallstead, PA. Spring interment will be made in the Lanesboro Cemetery. Friends may call from 2-4 and 7-9 on Wednesday. Should friends so desire, expressions of sympathy may take the form of a donation to St. Jude’s Children's Research Hospital, P.O. Carolyn J. Rooney - Cottrell,64, of Thompson, Pa. passed away on Tuesday December 18, 2012 at the Maryland University Medical Center in Baltimore, MD after an illness.
She was born in Susquehanna, Pa. the daughter of the late Raymond Rinker & Jacqueline Penn. She was predeceased by her first husband Paul Rooney, Sr. in 1999.
Carolyn is survived by her husband Earl Cottrell; daughters Lisa and Kevin Callender and Joanna and Bradley Soden; son Paul & Dawn Rooney, Jr.; stepson Earl Cottrell, Jr.; stepdaughter Aileen & William Shay; brother Homer and stepbrother Richard; sisters Rita, Fran, Connie, Rena, Elaine; stepsisters Kitty and Patty; grandchildren Aaron, Natashia, Kaitlin, Brandon, Lauren, Cole, Kaylee, Travis and step grandchildren Audree, Tosha, Cody and great grandson Matthew and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
She was a member of the Thompson and Clinton Center Baptist Churches. Carolyn own and operated Rooney’s Ice Cream in Thompson and was formerly employed at Barnes Kasson Hospital in Susquehanna and Gentex in Carbondale. She was a loving wife, mother and grandmother who loved to cook and was devoted to her family.
A funeral service was held on Saturday December 22 at 11am at the Thompson Baptist Church with Pastor Loren Winn officiating.
Burial will be in the Thompson Cemetery in Thompson, Pa. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society.
