WILLIAM J. BAYNE SR.

William J. Bayne Sr., 99, of Liberty Township, PA entered into rest on November 29, 2012 and was reunited with his beloved wife of 59 years, Louise French Bayne.

Bill is survived by his son, William J. Bayne Jr.; several nieces and nephews; and close friends, Hilda Kass and Carole Smallacombe.

Prior to his retirement in 1976, Bill was employed with RCA, Camden, NJ. He was one of four technicians selected to make the radio backpacks that travelled to the moon with Neil Armstrong and the Apollo 11 crew.

The family would like to express sincere appreciation to Traditional Hospice of Dunmore for their care and kindnesses shown to Bill and his family and also the doctors and staff of Endless Mountains Health Systems.

A funeral service was held at 8:00 p.m., Monday, December 3, 2012 at the Tuttle-Yeisley Funeral Home, Inc., Hallstead, PA. Memorial contributions in Bill’s memory may be made to Traditional Hospice, 113 West Drinker Street, Dunmore, PA 18512, Endless Mountains Health Systems, 25 Grow Avenue, Montrose, PA 18801, or to Franklin Forks United Methodist Church, P.O. Box 318, Montrose, PA 18801.

Bonnie Louise Downton

Bonnie Louise Downton, Susquehanna, passed away unexpectedly, Tuesday, November 27, 2012. Bonnie was born on February 9, 1952, in Susquehanna. She is predeceased by her parents Charles and June Downton, and brother-in-law Raye Thomas. She is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Paul and Karen Downton; 5 grandchildren, Jacob, Juliann, Jonas, Jaxon, and Jennavieve Downton; sisters and brothers-in-law, Peg and Bill Bennett, Barb Hadden, Bob and Dee Martin, Joann Thomas; brothers and sisters-in-law, Jack and Kathy Downton, Pete and Vickie Downton; many nieces and nephews and many great-nieces and great-nephews; special family friends, Dennis and Linda Cook, Donny and Jeanne Kurz. Bonnie, a graduate of Susquehanna Community School, was a CNA, licensed beautician, and earned an Associate’s Degree from Broome Community College in Applied Science. Bonnie was a proud employee of Barnes Kasson Hospital/Health Center for over 30 years. Bonnie worked numerous jobs over the years, helping many. Although she loved working, shopping, traveling, and playing games, she found the most joy in spending time with her family and friends. Bonnie will be greatly missed by all those whom she touched with her kindness and generosity.

The funeral service was held on Saturday, December 1, at the Starrucca Body of Christ Church with Pastor Kevin Setzer officiating. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the American Heart Association or the Starrucca Body of Christ Church.

Marguerite Mary Murphy

(September 14, 1918 – November 25, 2012)

Marguerite Murphy, former resident of Susquehanna, PA, passed away quietly on Sunday, November 25, at Heritage Harbor Rehabilitation Center in Annapolis, MD. Marguerite had moved to Annapolis in June 1997 with her sister Kathleen LeStrange to live with her nephew Joseph LeStrange and his family. She is survived by her Sister Kathleen LeStrange, Annapolis, MD, nephews Joseph LeStrange(Linda), and Thomas LeStrange(Pauline) of Conklin, NY, great nieces Amanda Shope, Andrea LeStrange, Kelly Jones, and great nephew Patrick LeStrange.

Marguerite was a graduate of Laurel Hill Academy class of 1936 and was employed by the Great Atlantic & Pacific Tea Company (A&P) from 1948 until her retirement in 1990, a career spanning 42 years. She was very active in the Susquehanna community and St. John Church. She was a member of the Catholic Daughters of America, The Altar and Rosary Society, The American Legion Auxiliary, and a Gold Circle Member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars. After her retirement she spent time at The Village of the Four Seasons where she was very active socially making many friends from all parts of Pennsylvania, New York, and New Jersey. She became very interested in arts and crafts and spent many hours creating green ware ceramics for her family and friends. She will be greatly missed by her family and the communities of Susquehanna and Annapolis, Md. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 10:00a.m. by the Rev. David Cramer at St. John Roman Catholic Church, Susquehanna, PA.

WILLIAM H. ONEY

William H. Oney, 80, of Hallstead, PA entered into rest on December 1, 2012. He is survived by his loving wife of more than 50 years, Janet.

Bill is also survived by his sons, David and Susan Oney, NC and Danny Oney, Hallstead, PA; a brother, Calvin Oney, Lanesboro, PA; numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and in-laws; and his companion dog, Curly.

Bill served with the United States Army in the Korean War. He worked at Universal Instruments, Binghamton, NY. He loved to fish, enjoyed his beautiful flower garden, and repaired lawn mowers.

A graveside service will be held on December 3, 2012 at noon at Newman Cemetery. Arrangements are under the direction of the Tuttle-Yeisley Funeral Home, Inc., Hallstead, PA.

CAROL C. WINNIE

Carol C. Winnie, 77, formerly of Hallstead, PA went home to be with the Lord peacefully on November 27, 2012. She was predeceased by her husband of more than 50 years, Theodore Winnie Jr. and a grandson Adam Winnie.

She is survived by six children, Steve and Connie Winnie, Ted and Donna Winnie, Rick and Anne Winnie, Donald and Pat Winnie, John and Donna Winnie, and Terri and Carla; a sister, Lorraine Lewis; many grandchildren, great grandchildren, nephews, and nieces.

Carol was a contented woman. She enjoyed her work at Macintosh and retired from Allied Signal, eating out, and travelling to South Carolina. She loved her family and spending time with her grandchildren and all activities around the pool.

At Carol’s request, there will be no public services. Arrangements are under the direction of the Tuttle-Yeisley Funeral Home, Inc., Hallstead, PA. Should friends so desire, expressions of sympathy may take the form of a donation to the American Diabetes Association, Wilkes-Barre PA Office, 65 E. Elizabeth Avenue, Suite 502, Bethlehem, PA 18018 or the American Kidney Association, 111 S. Independence Mall E, Suite 411, The Bourse Bldg., Philadelphia, PA 19106-2521.
