Douglas C. Foster, Sr
Douglas C. Foster, Sr., 73 passed away at his family home in Jacksonville, NC on March 26, 2012. He is survived by his wife of 46 yrs. Elizabeth, sons: Douglas, Jr. and Daniel, grandson Douglas III; also surviving are his two sisters: Mary and Sharon, and three brothers: Lee, Alan, and David. Doug was born in Hornell, NY on August 25, 1938, he was a long time resident of Oakland, PA.
He was predeceased by his parents Floyd and Grace Foster, his sister Ruth (Bootsie), brothers: Irvin, Dale and Darrell.
Doug was a graduate of the Susquehanna Consolidated High School class of 1958. He was employed by the Erie Railroad prior to enlisting in the U. S, Marine Corps, where he served his country for 30 yrs. before retiring as a Sergeant Major.
Funeral services and burial were in Jacksonville, Nicholson.
Thomas Robert Groover, Sr.
Thomas Robert Groover, Sr., 59, of Grand Street Susquehanna, Pa. passed away Monday, May 7, 2012 at the Barnes Kasson Hospital.
He was born in Susquehanna the son of the late Edmond & Lois Groover. He was predeceased by four brothers Richard, Edmond, Louis, Larry and one sister Doris.
Tom was survived by one son Thomas Groover, Jr., one daughter Amanda Groover, three grandchildren Rilynn Groover; Stephen Saam and Abriana Groover; one brother Charles; six sisters Jean, Gloria, Alice, Sandra, Nancy and Janet many nieces, nephews and cousins.
He worked at the Barnes Kasson Hospital maintenance department until his retirement. Tom will be deeply missed by his family and many friends.
A memorial service was held on Thursday May 10 at 1:00 pm at Lakey’s 317 Front Street Susquehanna, Pa.
In lieu of flowers memorial contribution may be made to the family to help with funeral expenses.
