The Ecumenical Way Of The Cross

On Good Friday, April 6, the Ecumenical Way of the Cross will again be held in Montrose. At 12:00 noon, The Way will begin at the Holy Name of Mary Roman Catholic Church with a reading from The Passion, prayers and music. A wooden cross will then be carried in procession by community members to St. Paul’s Episcopal Church for a continuation of the reading and service. The procession with the cross will travel to the Montrose Methodist Church, where the reading and service will resume. The procession will conclude at the First Presbyterian Church with the final reading and service. Everyone is invited to this holy event.

Holiday Services At Holy Name Of Mary

Holy Name of Mary Church, Montrose, announces the upcoming Holy Week and Easter schedules.

Saturday, March 31, 4:00 p.m.: Palm Sunday Vigil Mass with blessing and distribution of palm.

Palm Sunday, April 1: Palm Sunday masses will be at 8:00 a.m. and 10:30 a.m. with blessing and distribution of palm.

Holy Thursday, April 5: mass of the Lord’s Supper, 7:00 p.m.; night prayer, 10:00 p.m.

Good Friday, April 6: Ecumenical Way of the Cross, at which time a wooden cross is carried to several area churches, with readings and a service at each, 12:00 noon; Passion of the Lord at Holy Name of Mary, 2:00 p.m.

Holy Saturday, April 7: blessing of food baskets and children’s Easter baskets, followed by an Easter egg hunt, 11:00 a.m.; Easter Vigil mass, 8:00 p.m.

Easter Sunday, April 8: masses at 8:00 a.m. and 10:30 a.m.

Living Way Of The Cross

On Sunday evening, April 1 at 7:00 p.m., the young people of Holy Name of Mary Parish, Montrose, will be presenting “The Living Way of the Cross,” a dramatic reenactment of the Passion, Death and Resurrection of Jesus Christ. Everyone is invited to attend. Father Gerry Safko serves as Pastor of Holy Name of Mary Church, 278 South Main St., Montrose.

New Worship Hours At Thompson UMC

The Thompson United Methodist Church is changing their worship time from 11:00 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. beginning Palm Sunday, which is April 1.   A survey was sent to members giving choices of times and the majority of the votes went to the 10:30 a.m. worship. Because of this time change, the Children's Sunday School will begin at 9:30 as of April 1.

Easter Sunrise Service, which was held at the Ararat UM Church before it's closing, will be held at the William and Kay Wallace home on Hobbs Road in Ararat at 7:00 a.m. Anyone wishing more information about this service can contact a church member.  The regular Easter Sunday service will be in the Thompson Church at 10:30 a.m. Everyone is welcomed to join in the celebration of Christ's resurrection as well as every Sunday during the year.

Upcoming Events At Great Bend Alliance

The Great Bend Alliance Church located at 160 Randolph Street in Great Bend, PA will begin Sunday School at 9:30 a.m. on Easter Sunday. There will be exciting events for the children. The morning worship service will be at 11:00 a.m. with a Children’s Message, special music and an inspiring Easter message of hope.

The Great Bend Alliance Church will host a Community Prayer Breakfast on April 21 at 9:30 a.m. The breakfast is designed to bring the Churches of the community closer together. There is no charge for this event.

The Southern Gospel Group, Gospel Bond, will be in concert at the Great Bend Alliance Church on April 22 at 10:30 a.m. There is no charge for this event, however a free will offering will be taken for Gospel Bond.
