Calling All Businesses
Help celebrate National “Week of the Young Child” April 22-28, by displaying artwork in your Susquehanna County business the entire month. Susquehanna County CARES (Childcare, Agencies, Resources and Educational Services) is once again coordinating a countywide young artists’ display to recognize the talents of our young children and honor the early educators involved in shaping a child’s future. Research shows children who receive a quality educational experience before the age of 5 achieve greater success later in life.
CARES is looking for businesses willing to display artwork created by children from various childcare, pre-kindergarten and kindergarten programs. CARES will take care of setting up the display at the beginning of April and removing it at the end of the month. This project continues to grow each year thanks to the support of area businesses. This year is sure to be another success.
If your business is willing to participate, please contact Susquehanna County CARES by March 16. Call Stephnie Thornton at (570) 465-5040 or send an e-mail to stcares@epix.net.

Workshop Opportunities At Timmy’s Town Center
Looking for something fun, challenging, and interesting for your children to do? Timmy’s Town Center (TTC), the Children’s Museum at the Mall at Steamtown, is expanding its goal of providing quality hands-on activities for children. Its newest venture is to provide workshop opportunities for young children in the areas of literacy, music and science. The following are presently being offered:
Literacy Classes for ages 3-5, Saturdays from 10:15 to 11:00 a.m.; Music Time for ages 2-6, Friday mornings from 10:30 to 11:10 a.m.; and Fun Science Classes for ages 7-11, Saturday mornings from 10:15 to 11:45 a.m.
All supplies and materials for the workshops are included in the workshop fee. While the costs for each of the workshops vary according to the number of sessions being offered, membership to Timmy’s Town Center provides these workshops at a reduced cost. An additional benefit of family membership to TTC includes membership in the Association of Children's Museums (ACM) Reciprocal Program. This program provides free or discounted admission to almost 200 children’s museums in the Reciprocal Program network across the United States and Canada.
Call TTC at 570-341-1511 for more information and to register your child for the workshops.
