Beat the winter blues and join the Thompson United Methodist Church for a chicken-n-biscuit dinner on Saturday, January 28 from 4:00 to 6:30 p.m.

The winter dinner schedule is the last Saturday of January, February with chicken-n-biscuits; and in March the dinner will be Spaghetti, lovingly prepared by the Sunday school classes. This dinner will help to support the children's projects.

Take outs and a bake sale will also be available for all of these events. The church’s roast beef dinners will resume in April.

St. Paul’s Episcopal Church has announced festivities for the Silver Jubilee of their Rector, The Rev’d Paul Edward Walker. A festival Eucharist will be celebrated on Saturday, January 21 at 12 noon to celebrate the twenty-fifth anniversary of the ordination of The Rev’d Paul Walker to the priesthood. Father Paul Walker was ordained on Saturday, January 24, 1987 by The Rt. Rev’d Mark Dwyer, Bishop of Bethlehem, at St. Matthew’s Episcopal Church in Worcester, MA.

A special luncheon will follow the Eucharist in the Parish House. Persons wishing to attend are asked to phone St. Paul’s Church at 570-278-2954 by Wednesday, January 18 so that sufficient preparations can be made.

The family has requested no gifts. However, in lieu of gifts, a cash purse will be given to Father Walker at the reception. If you would like to donate to the cash purse, please send your check to St. Paul’s Senior Warden, Mrs. Lynne Graham, 144 Dayton Road, Montrose, PA 18801. Please be sure to mark “Father Paul’s Silver Jubilee” in the memo.

A scrapbook of notes and letters to Father Paul is also being collected for presentation at the same time. Please send your addition, if you wish to contribute one, to Mrs. Graham at the same address.
