Christ Episcopal Church in Susquehanna has announced its annual Christmas Eve Eucharist service for Saturday, December 24 at 3 p.m. The Rev’d Randy Webster, priest at Christ Church, will officiate and preach.
Luminaria will be lit before the service. A luminaria or a farolito is a small light or lantern (commonly a candle set in some sand inside a paper bag) which is of significance among New World Hispanics at Christmas time which lead the holy family to safe lodging.
No service will be held on Sunday, December 25.
Christ Church is a welcoming and affirming church in the Anglican tradition, and is located at 1107 West Main Street in Susquehanna.
St. Paul’s Episcopal Church in Susquehanna County has announced their service schedule for their Christmas observances.
On Christmas Eve, Saturday, December 24, two services will be offered. A family-oriented service will be offered at 5:00 p.m. The service is oriented towards families, and especially children, and will include the telling of the Christmas story, the singing of familiar carols and Eucharist. Candlelight “Midnight Mass” will be offered at 11:00 p.m. at St. Paul’s in Montrose; festival music and carols will begin at 10:30 p.m. before the Eucharist begins. Luminaria will be lit before the services.
On Christmas day, the Eucharist for Christmas day will be offered at St. Paul’s at 9:00 a.m.
Holy Name of Mary Catholic Church, Montrose, announces the following Christmas week services:
Saturday, December 24: Vigil masses for the Feast of the Nativity of the Lord will be celebrated at 5:00 p.m. and 9:00 p.m. The 4th grade religious education class will perform the Nativity Play during the 5:00 p.m. mass.
Sunday, December 25: The Holy Day of the Nativity of the Lord will be celebrated with mass at 8:00 a.m. and 10:30 a.m.
Saturday, December 31: A vigil mass for the Feast of Mary the Mother of God will be celebrated at 4:00 p.m.
Sunday, January 1: On New Year’s Day, mass will be celebrated at 8:00 a.m. and 10:30 a.m. for the Feast of Mary the Mother of God.
