Cabot Scholarship To Benefit SCCTC Students
Cabot Oil & Gas Corporation (NYSE:COG) joined education and community leaders and students at the Susquehanna County Career & Technology Center [SCCTC] to announce a substantial increase to an existing scholarship program. The Cabot Oil & Gas Corporation Scholarship will provide resources for students to purchase the industry tools, kits and required testing fees they need in their respective areas of study at the SCCTC.
“I love learning about new skills in my Carpentry & Cabinetry classes,” said Jesse Goudin, a student from Elk Lake High School. “I want to work in the general contracting business and this kind of support really helps me to succeed.”

The $50,000 fund is the Cabot Oil & Gas Corporation Scholarship and is administered by The Community Foundation of the Endless Mountains. “We have been able to help many hundreds of students over the years,” stated Peter Quigg, President of The Community Foundation, “but this type of substantial support from Cabot is extraordinary and will help an even greater number of the students and their families.”
George Stark, Cabot Oil & Gas Corporation External Affairs Director, spoke of the donation. “We are honored to be helping in this way. Good paying jobs and access to quality career training is a major priority for Cabot. This scholarship directly relates to the quality of life enjoyed here in Susquehanna County,” Mr. Stark says. “Investing in the success of our students is a sure bet to a brighter future in our community.”
“This support lowers many barriers to the success of our students,” said Dr. Alice Davis, Director of the Susquehanna County Career & Technology Center. “Some of the course materials needed for study can be quite expensive. This scholarship opportunity minimizes some major obstacles for some students. Because of the great partnership with The Community Foundation and the generosity of Cabot, our students are benefiting tremendously.”
Danielle Callas, another student from Elk Lake High School is studying in the Food Management, Production & Services program at the Center. “I just want to thank The Community Foundation and Cabot Oil & Gas Corporation,” she said. “Without this help, it would be really tough for me and my mom to afford all of the many expensive uniforms and industry tools I need for my classes. This really helps me reach my goal of owning my own restaurant some day!”
Since 2003, The Community Foundation has helped well over 400 students from Susquehanna and Wyoming Counties attend the Susquehanna County Career & Technology Center. It is expected to serve 120 more from 7 school districts in this school year. In the years of providing this assistance, The Community Foundation, in partnership with corporate donors such as Cabot Oil & Gas Corporation, has raised more than $1,500,000.00 for education assistance and has helped more than 1,600 Pre-School through 12th Grade students attend more than 36 local schools and educational programs in four counties of northeastern Pennsylvania.
